Or Gaming IOL, which would be much more accurate & wouldn't require a change of acronym :)

Good point. Not being especially interested in casinos etc (except for Quidco/Rpoints cashback), I'd overlooked that.

If you don't mind me raiding your thread TT, and the matter has cropped up in your thread, I've just PM'd misskool as follows:

    'Good morning

The palaver we have seen this morning resulting in your locking a thread involving northern1981 highlights something that, by a strange coincidence, I have actually commented on in Tartantipster's new thread today. It's the hoary old chestnut - the GIOL name.
Because of its name it will attract punters, people who haven't had a bet but fancy the idea, people who have the odd flutter. They won't pick up the purpose of GIOL straight off, and certainly won't be bothered reading through screeds of advice. They just want to ask about 'having a bet'.
Some responses are far too tough and lack understanding: we don't discuss gambling on here (how immediately rude and off-putting must that be to a newcomer to the thread!). Most replies are kind and point the righteous way to making money.
Personally I think the word 'gambling' in the title is unfortunate and will attract existing or potential gamblers. It would be a big decision to change it but I think it would be a good decision.
    Regards
    schiff'

I wonder if any Hear, Hear's would help?

Good idea. Although I'd maybe call it chat and questions. The questions thread, while a good resource, often has questions buried under weight of posts very quicky.

This way, you'd have one forum for the pure discussion of offers, then another for banter, discussion of the merits of underlaying, questions like how best to maximise 0-0 cashback offers, comparisons of betting computer setups etc.

    YES, Chat & Q's, good idea.
  • I'm more than happy the way it is. People will open useless chat threads in the wrong place no matter how many different forums there is.

"...Forum Moderators will of course have to monitor this ensuring posts that truly belong in either thread do go there..."

at the moment there is only one bg and mse has no plans to recruit another one. While there are some chat threads,at this moment in time there may be one or two on the front page. All offers have an element of chat to them as users compare their experiences. Sorry,i don't see how having a subforum for 10% of the threads on here would help declutter it.it might make it easier for you but it will be confusing for newcomers and much more work for me.

I think we both know that it is far more than 10% don't we, more like 40%+.

This is the crux, really, isn't it, "...and much more work for me..."

However, this Forum needs another BG 100%.
  • Another one for leaving it as it is, its not broken so dont try to fix it
Aha, so thats how you do a signature!

With respect TT, this is totally unreasonable. It would drive MK into an early grave, with or without help! It means her reading every post, weighing up each one to judge if it's in the right place and, if it isn't, moving it.

We are supposed to be self-administrating, as it's an open forum. That - maybe surprisingly - seems to work quite well.

You simply cannot get everybody to do things the way you think is best - even though your idea may be perfect. People just don't obey all the rules all of the time. And some people who don't appreciate being 'ordered about' (as they may see it) will buck the system for sheer spite or devilment.
And you will never ever get everybody to post the right things in the right place. It will never work. A good example: I've hi-jacked one of your threads just this morning ;)

    Debt-free and Proud!
I did a similar suggestion for change a week or so ago, and HugoRune pretty much sums up what everyone thought.
  • Think this is a good idea as havinf recently started up it does take a while to get everything together.

Also when i've got some spare time (probably when i have a week of work...) i'm going to create a starters guide with my ideas on which bookies etc to do first to help build up your pot and add my experiances with them. It is quite hard getting started and deciding on which books to do first.

Going to take my boy through this as well so will use him as a guinea pig.

Does this sound as if it would be useful?

I don't want to snub what is a generous gesture, but when you started off, did you not find the introductory guides sufficient - at least in most respects? Backed up by the help on the newbies' threads. Would you not be duplicating what is already available? And personal diaries and guides seldom work, and don't seem to last long.
Your own experiences would be useful on the newbies threads themselves of course; someone asks about a bookie they are considering - which you have done - and you could comment or advise.
