Hello all

Last Christmas after reading on here about Christmas tradition of elf's coming to stay with families until Christmas eve we had a lovely Elf called Otis Sugar-Socks who came to stay and my children adored him being here even my 11 yr old son!

We are hoping Otis will arrive again this year ;) but wondered what other activities naughty, funny or playful your Christmas Elf got upto last year with your families.

I thought we could share ideas and get inspiration for this year.

Our Elf got upto lots inc:

Eating choccies and leaving the wrappers on the floor :D

Leaving various crafts things for the children to do each evening after school to get them in the Xmas mood

A treasure hunt on Christmas eve

Hiding things for us to find

Taking photos of himself at night with our children when they were asleep

  • What a fab idea!

We have elves that put up the tree and decorations at night when everyone is asleep. The kids watch as other trees go up slowly down the street and wonder every evening whether they will be visiting our house that night.

How do you get them in the photos? Do you have a toy elf or are you great at photoshop.

Might steal your idea this year, my kids would love it!
    Thanks

We have Otis a pic is below. He is a good size and very cuddly. He comes on the 1st December with a letter from santa and then goes home with Santa on Christmas Eve.

  • Another thing i have found that may be great for a Elf to organise for the kids to do after school is sock monkeys but snowmen ones Full credit to MSE'r StarDrops42 for this one. :j Take a look at this thread where Stardrops 42 has made some stunning ones and a description further down the page on how to make them. they are easy for children to do.

  • I'm going to do the elf for my dds (age 6 and 8) this year. I explained it to them and dd age 8 freaked  - not the reaction I was hoping for lol. She even slept with her bedroom light on that night.
I found this little Christmas elf on ebay tonight and it might solve the problem as it is so cute. I just thought I'd share incase anyone has a similar problem.
The seller had about 3 left and said they arn't getting anymore in.
I can't post a link but if you search for a christmas yoohoo you should find it.

I have enough mischief in my house all year round without the addition of more at Christmas!!! But I'll be doing Christmas Elves - I'm going to make them from Charity shop buys - HOPEFULLY. If I do it then the Elf will be a helpful elf and make sure that everyone does something nice each day!

Might make my grey hairs slightly fewer in number!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

If you don't mind ordering from the States (as we still have plenty of time left for it to arrive) then give these a go, they are the most gorgeous little elves I've ever seen.
