Hi I have just found out I am pregnant for a second time. I already have a 2year old who is my world. Since having him I bought my own place which with the credit crisis has lost money so cant really sell. I just dont know how im going to afford another baby I get full tax credits for my little man and child benefit and everything but when my salary dips if I go on mat leave it wont be anywhere near enough to cover my mortgage I just dont know what to do.

Hi
Big hugs and congratulations on your pregnancy! Obviously we don't know your full cirumstances, but does your bank offer mortgage payment breaks? My friend took a 6 months one when she was on mat leave?Avon Representative October 2010: C16: £276 :T C17: £297 :j0 -

You'll always find you will adjust to cope, you just can't see a way to do it right now because it's all swirlling around in your head, along with all the hormones no doubt.
Check on the entitledto.com website to see how your income would change.

You may be get help for DWP to pay for your mortgage interest. But unless you get some fantastic help or intervention you will find things very hard. You will cope though.0

could you consider taking less mat leave? Not easy I know, my SIL went back after 9 weeks due to drop in income....
Maybe if you posted a SOA we could come up with some ideas??? Have you been over to the Old Style board? I swear those guys have saved me a fortune in relation to cooking etc......Avon Representative October 2010: C16: £276 :T C17: £297 :j0 -
I remember when we had my DS almost 5 years ago. I'd just finished uni, we'd nowhere to live and I was diagnosed with pre-natal depression, so before I went on mat leave I was on SSP with a new house to pay for etc...but one way or the other we got through - we were SKINT but with a beautiful new baby!!!
Have you still got all the baby things from your first child?Avon Representative October 2010: C16: £276 :T C17: £297 :j0 -
Back then, My Mum never got Mat leave and worked all her life to provide for me and my brother. She didn't get half the help single mothers do now.
Maybe that's why they're all at home most of the time apart from the odd part time job here and there.
You really shouldn't have children if you can't afford to look after them, but I do understand how easy it is should you FALL into that situation.0 -
Yes still have moses basket high chair bedding and stuff so that would save a load and I could take ben out of nursery completely or only one day etc. What is a SOA? I will have a look at old style im gutted as I was just shedding the weight from the first oneLoves Cornwall - Hates plastic0
