I really recommend these ones, they're really big and bendy! We've had them for a few years and they aren't stained, just have a lot of knife marks.0 -
I'm another that uses the dishwasher.
I always buy the sets of 2 from Ikea but very rarely use the large one. I find the small one quite acceptable for daily use (cooking for 2) and it tucks into a kitchen cupboard easily when not in use.
I'm going to donate the larger ones to CS. I must declutter!!!0 -
I tried to clean it with bicarb of soda, didnt really work, then flash spray, again didnt really work. went to asda and bought a medium sized and a teeny weeny chopping board for £1.79 :A_Jen_0

A bottle of bleach would have been cheaper than £1.79
For those who want colour-coded boards for different produce how about some coloured sticky-tape or ribbon tied around the handle through the carrying-hole thingy?0 -
I saw a programme on TV a while ago on the National Trust. I'm sure they used something like turps to clean the dirt and grease from the wooden bannister in one of their stately homes. Is this correct? I have an old pine coffee table that has 'feet' marks around the edge. Hot soapy water gets a lot of the dirt off but not all of it.
Any ideas?

Hi all,
I need some assistance! I have a lovely, dry clean only dress, 98% cotton 2% elastane. I reckon this means it can probably actually be machine washed on a low heat.
I wore it to a wedding and it happened to get cranberry juice on it. I took it to the dry cleaners in the hope they could sort it out, alas it's gone from having a few light pink blotches to having some quite unsightly brown marks, I think because they've burnt the sugar traces present in the juice stains.
Is there anything anyone can suggest I can do at home to get rid of these marks? The body of the dress is cream otherwise I'd have attempted to rub it with bleach!
Any suggestions gratefully received,
TIA
Caroline**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D
