Hi
Well my plastic chopping board has seen better days. I went to buy a new one but for some reason they are super tiny or glass or wood or very cheap looking.
I usually wash it in very hot water and a squirt of washing up liquid and give it a scrub with a sponge scourer.
Its ready for the bin honestly speaking with you.
I read to use bleach to clean it but to me bleach and chopping boards seem dangerous!. I also read Flash spray can be used?. Again i though bleach and flash was to be kept away from food.
How about something natural like lemon juice?._Jen_0 -
There's nothing wrong with using bleach as long as the item is rinsed off properly. I agree with you, plastic chopping-boards can end up looking gruesome, most especially if you cut tomatoes on them.
Glass chopping-board are only good for one thing and that's making your precious knives as blunt as a blunt thing. I hate the sound when you use them as well, it puts my teeth right on edge. Now, wooden chopping-boards are the best. The wood contains the natural antiseptics the trees make to protect themselves from germs and mould spores so don't need to be disinfected, just given a good scrub with a scourer now and then.0 -
I use sterilising fluid on mine. I stand it in the sink, pour some on, brush it into the deepest knife scores and leave for about 10mins before rinsing thoroughly.:dance:Mash p'tater, mash p'tater:dance:0

I always find cream cleanser, 38p ish from Sainsbuy's Basics, is very good and worked a treat on the 6 years of dust and grease on the top of my cupboards. The more expensive jiff stuff would work the same way. and Tesco has a value one too I think.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420

I find a hot wash in the diswasher generally works for mine. If there are any really manky looking areas I give them a good scrub with a scourer first.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

Mine go in the dishwasher. Prior to having that wonderful household device I bleached my chopping boards.I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
Ok, thank you
I don't have a dishwasher, i think i'll have a look at the sterilising fluid idea to see if it gets rid of stains, and the wooden board sound good too_Jen_0 -
I'd rather have a slightly food stained chopping board than use some harsh chemical like bleach on it!
I just stick mine in the dishwasher. If I didn't have one, it would just get as clean as it could with washing up liquid and I don't use harsh ones of those either.0 -
Plastic chopping boards don't last forever.
IKEA do very good ones for just 99p. But they only do them in white, though. They used to do a red one, which I keep for fresh meat only.
I've suggested that they also do them in red again, plus blue, yellow, brown and green, which are the colours you'd find in a commercial kitchen. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
scour with salt and wash off .0
