I have a 1-10 ish mix in a spray bottle for general cleaning, squirt as needed for grotty stuff. Dishes yes, but I only use it rarely, tiny amount goes a long way.
One day I might be more organised...........

  • Thanks lil_me, I have been squirting it directly on the counter tops, bath etc and thought "this won't last me ages like the OSers say". Great tip about the spray bottle!

I dilute it a lot more than 1/10. The bottle actually says 1/2 to 1 tablespoon per 4.5 litres of water.

There are 5 things you should know about Stardrops

    1. Dilute it LOTS
    2. It cleans just about anything
    3. I use instead of washing up liquid, but only as an emergency and well diluted
    4. Don't put it in the washing machine
    5. Seriously, DO NOT put Stardrops in the washing machine.

Oh, I've been putting it in the washing machine for over a year now but in moderation only, of course. If an item has a bad stain I brush a little Stardrops in with an old toothbrush, but for general washing I use 1 tablespoon cheap powder and 1 tablespoon soda crystals in the ball, and a little squirt (again about 1 tablespoon) of Stardrops in the drawer. The soda crystals keep the bubbles to a minimum and the effect on the washing is brilliant.

For more on Stardrops try the Stardrops..I have seen the light! thread
  • I have a microwave/convection oven which I often use as a convection oven for roasting etc. The walls are badly marked with burnt on splashes of food. The instruction book says not to use oven cleaners but I'm really struggling to try to clean it. I have tried bicarb. of soda on a scourer and that does help a bit but can anyone give me any tips?

Archieboy I microwave a bowl of water for a couple of minutes which loosens the grease. Then I wipe over with jif and a pot scourer.

  • Hi I hope someone can help me with a problem that is driving me mad. I have some wardrobes and a chest of drawers that were stored flat packed in the loft for a couple of years. When we moved nearly 5 years ago we needed them again so reasembled them, cleaned them down etc but ever since they have had a slight foisty smell to them. I have tried cleaning them several times with bicarb of soda, I have little sachets of smellies in them but I cant get rid of the smell.

Has anyone got any suggestions for anything else that will get rid of the smell please?

    Thanks
