OS Cleaning Tips and Quick Questions...

I have some grease proof paper, which I then placed a few drops of essential oil on, then let dry. Once dry you could put into each drawer, or the floor of the wardrobe? I know it's not the ideal fix, but if the smell is ingrained and not much you can do, at least this smells nicer! I got the oils off ebay - honeysuckle is lovely, tuberose is amazing too, and also jasmin for lovely scents... works a treat and I love this in my underwear drawer - lasts ages and an extra 'aaaaaah that smells gorgeous'!MFW #185

Reason I came on here was to ask 2 questions:
- I have some zip up tops that have white and also colour parts. The white has gone off-white - how to fix without reducing the colour sections?
- Part deux - spot oil stains on a top from cooking - how to remove? Have tried the usual dab on roll on stain removers but these are stubborn stains...MFW #185

Try some Oil of Eucalyptus on the oil stained top. Dab some on the top before putting in the WM. To brighten dull/off white clothes you can buy some Dylon Glo White which may help?0 -
Thanks Janb5 would any other solution for the spot oil stains work? Just that I have no eucalyptus oil...
Re whitening I tried some of those whitening sheets you put in the washing machine but no good...MFW #185

Hi Eagerlearner,
For the tops this thread might give you some ideas:
White sleeves on kids double layer tops
With grease marks I usually just rub a tiny bit of washing up liquid into the stain and then wash in the normal way. That usually does the trick although there are more ideas on this thread:

Hello!
What is a good natural antibacterial?
I've heard Lavender Oil (essentail) - is this right? Does anyone have any others?

Tea-Tree Oil is the strongest natural antibacterial that I know of. I've not heard of lavender being anti-bac. Tea-Tree is used in cleaning as well as reccomended for treating spots because of it's anti-bac properties.
Edit: Actually when I worked in a pharmacy we sold zoflora which is concentrated lavender oil and I think that was supposed to be a strong anti-bac cleaning product.0 -
I read in one of the weekend supplements that there's a website that specialises in tried and tested natural solutions, using cupboard staples like baking soda, vinegar, lemon juice etc

It's even got step by step pictures to show you what's what!0 -

There are 5 things you should know about Stardrops
1. Dilute it LOTS
2. It cleans just about anything
3. I use instead of washing up liquid, but only as an emergency and well diluted
4. Don't put it in the washing machine
5. Seriously, DO NOT put Stardrops in the washing machine.
There are two bottles of Stardrops, one is concentrated and one is already diluted, maybe Lalaladybird is using the diluted one?Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Hope someone can help here (I have searched the Index to no avail)
My daughter was ironing her white uniforms this evening, following hubby ironing his work shirts, when brown water stains came out onto the material.
I have tried White Wizard on the marks which has faded them a bit and I will wash them again........a bit worried they will still be there afterwards though, so anything else I can try?
I am not sure what is wrong with the iron but we are in a soft water area so I do not descale. We generally drop and break irons before they need cleaning! I am leaving a solution of white vinegar and water in the iron overnight and will heat it and blast the steam through in the morning. Again, should I be doing anything else and what have I done wrong for this to happen?
Thanks in advance and will check back here later tomorrow.0
