I update everytime it tells me to, but I usually close the laptop rather then shut it down so it hibernates or sleeps ? when I do that .. then shut it down properly about every few weeks.. is it bad to do it this way?

I would certainly recommend restarting the computer every week at 'least' to allow any updates to install properly
In fact, until the computers sorted id recommend shutting it down everytime (When it goes to 'sleep' its possible that the infection gets worse)
try Dr web if nortons still off the menu
If that still doesnt work give ASQUARED a try

I will try asquared. Thanks again for your patience... because it freezes on dr web does that mean there is definately a virus or something?Angel

It doesnt 'definitely' mean somethings wrong no
But you should shut your anti virus down when scanning with the others as conflicts could arise:idea:0
