    Offer accepted 7.09.09
    Valuation (finally) 8.10.09
Full buildings survey booked for Monday (12th)

    Update;
We viewed house for final time to check a few jobs had been done that we'd agreed on with vendor, e.g broken window replaced, late this afternoon. All done. Solicitor said she'd try and exchange by end of today but think now it'll be Monday morning.
Completion should be end of the week.
Am almost daring to be excited now- can't believe we're almost there.

    Good luck everyone
  • Thanks bufger! Yay VKay!

It's all so close -I'm in a half-packed up house, I've freegled/freecycled all the furniture I don't need, just waiting for a consignment of fresh boxes/crates from Dad Storage Supplies :D

Packing up all Sunday I expect - going out with pals tomorrow and working on Monday. Tuesday it's all hands on deck!! ;)

    Hi

My partner and I are FTB's and we've been house hunting since July. We've had an agreement in principle from Lloyds since July, looked through hundreds of houses on the internet, viewed a sizeable amount too! Saw a lovely house (2 bed victorian semi) put an offer in £10K under the asking price that was rejected so we carried on looking and then the sellers came back to us 2 weeks later and accepted our offer on the first of October!! We were recommended a firm of solicitors so went with them and went back to the bank and filled in all the forms.

Current situation is: solicitor has sent off for all the searches and should have them back on Monday, the survey was done last Tuesday and we're now waiting for the report (was supposed to be emailed over today -oh well!!) but the valuation was sent back on the bank and we had the official mortgage offer through yesterday! Only a few minor queries from the fixtures and fitings form and depending on what the survey shows we hope to exchange in the next few weeks and complete during the first week of December.

Back in the excited phase of house buying as things seem to be moving now and having the official mortgage offer is a weight off our minds - just waiting on the survey now!

Thanks homehunter- happy packing! It's so hard to get hold of boxes isn't it!!?

Tia- good luck with it all ,sounds like it's all happening quickly! Are you trying to avoid stamp duty holiday deadline like us?!

Our wait for valuation was because tenants were in the house and refused entry to the surveyor or anyone else. It wasn't because the mortgage company were slow- they tried to arrange it several times. It is all a distant memory now... Packing, packing, packing and lots of cleaning too!

Hi VKay - absolutely! We were getting a bit worried as our AIP was due to expire in November and we hadnt found anywhere but it does seem to be moving along nicely now.

Our survey was delayed by a week as the tenants who are currently living in the house couldnt say for certain that someone would be there so it was delayed until half term week.

My partner and I moved out of our rented flat in June and in with family whilst we house hunted and we got all our boxes free from our local Co-op who were only to happy for us to take the boxes of their hands - have you tried your local supermarkets for boxes? (Crisp ones worked the best for us!!)

Thanks for the tip. Tried Tesco twice- most unhelpful (despite the facts I spend thousands in there every year!). Coop have supplied me with banana boxes.

finally, after the stress of the past couple of weeks, we got the phonecall saying they are ready to exchange and hey presto, all done.
