Proposing/engagement ring

What a dipstick I am, I thought you were saying I need to recoat it after it's resized, as in straight away!
Well I've got such a good deal on it so I wouldn't mind anyway. Found out just how much they take the pee with the mark up on rings. The ring would be priced up at around £1500 in a normal jewellers. I'll be making the proposal more special with the money I saved
I got engaged in July and had my ring resized as it was too big. To have it resized cost £45.00 at Ernest Jones and I put it in on the Tuesday and it was back on the Friday.
My ring is also white gold, and I love it. Obviously it hasn't needed recoating yet, so I can't help with that!
Good luck for your proposal, I'm sure your fiancee will love the ring!!0 -
How did you get the ring so cheap?.....0

when i was in the same position as you i had to steal the ring she wears on the same finger on the other hand! she spent all day asking if i'd seen it and it magically appeared the next day. I told her she must have 'had a man look'.
I took it into Asda who told me it was a letter whateveritwas. :-)
best of luck to you buddy! dont be nervous. Someone that cares enough to ask a question like that on here wont get turned down ;-)MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
Ha ha. The ring came from someone who serves the jewellers. It's not nicked or anything, just got it at the right price.
Aaanyway... Thanks for all the advice. Not being cocky but she's the one who always asks to get married, if she does say no i'll be suprised. Not because i'm such a nice fella, just because of what she's said about getting engaged etc0 -
Good luck!!
I have had a white gold ring for 3 years and it still looks "white" I've worn it every day, at work in the shower ect. Just to add my bit of info!0 -
I have found out it costs £25 to get it downsized and also to coat it or something, basically £25 all in, can't complain about that.
I took the ring to a pawnbrokers just to see what they would offer, they reckon they would only play £55 for it! I was a bit worried so got it valued in two other jewellers who both said it was worth around £1100.
Just got to pick a time to propose now and do something special. Nothing tacky but I want to make her remember it...
Not sure whether to wait for her birthday on December 22nd or propose around that sort of time. I even done the ask the dad for permission thing so everything seems ok fingers crossed0 -

It has got a diamond in the middle and about 6 diamonds around it, quite small but its a nice looking ring, I would go and double check but she'll notice me gone and find me looking no doubt...0

Aww yes, propose on her birthday, that's a great day cos it's my birthday too!
Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I can't believe the 'big name' jewellers now charge £30+ to send a ring off to value it. I'm not being funny but if you told me the ring was worth £5k i'd believe you same as I'd believe you if it was worth £100.
I'm a bit worried but the tag said £1275 and the person I got it off is usually straight up. I know it's not that important but I want her to be able to show the ring off. She isn't the type to parade things like clothes and jewellery, she's down to earth as you can get thats why I want her to be proud showing this to friends and family.
I wish I knew a bit more about rings now. All I know is its white gold, 18 carat and has 6 diamonds surrounding a slightly bigger diamond in the middle.
I know she will like it but I'd love to make sure but dont want to ruin the surprise!0
