Yep, agree.
Just bide your time and go for it!
My OH couldn't wait when he got the ring, so came straight home and proposed!
I was that flustered and suprised I didn't even say Yes straight away lol!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Thats the thing, because i've got the ring it makes it hard to wait.0

if you're itching to do it, do it! :rotfl:
You don't have to do it like in the movies, if you want to ask her and you know she will say Yes, I doubt she will care when and where you ask her!

Yeah I might do it this week, would prefer it to be a weekend so we have a couple of days together, not getting up for work!0

you could put her off the scent slightly by hinting that you might be buying jewllery for Christmas & then propose next week instead!
Personally I wouldn't combine it with her birthday or Christmas - if she's a sentimental/soppy sort she'll like having the "engagement anniversary" some other time on its own!
I think from what you've said, a long walk, proposal part way & then a nice picnic waiting in the car at the end is the way to go ...
You could sound out a best friend or sister if you wish - but they may not be able to keep the secret!
Don't do something that is out of character for her, but remember that she one day may want to tell your children about when Daddy proposed - in bad after $ex is NOT a good place, in front of tons of strangers doesn't suit lots of people
This is about you two - so think what you & she especially like. Is there a place that you think is special? Some girls are very sentimental - can you remember where you went on your first date or for a special occasion? Does she love going to feed the ducks at the park (by the lake) or has she mentioned several times how much she loves living near the sea now as it was so far away when she was a kid (beach proposal)? has she often mentioned that she's never visited a nearby castle or tourist attraction? does she have a secret passion for steam trains or elephants (zoo) or is she involved in something like running the Brownies (I know a lady who's other leaders were in on it - at Brownies one night she went out of the room to do some paperwork & the husband-to-be arrived, sat the brownies in a circle & asked them if they would mind him marrying their Tawny Owl - she came back in & he proposed there in front of the 7 & 8 yr olds who thought it was totally fairytale - she was in tears & the brownies made a guard of honour at their wedding and had a special tea afterwards - after all it was *their* wedding too 'cos they'd been involved in it!)
Just be aware that immediately after the proposal she may want to initially spend lots of time on teh phone or in person with her friends & family being all giddy & girly rather than being soppy & cuddly with you!0 -
Wow, top reply. Except for the bad sex bit!
By the way I wasn't going to do it on Christmas day or her birthday, it was going to be inbetween the two but I get what you mean about a special day0 -
OMG - that brownie story is the CUTEST!!!!
Whatever you do ironman, puhleese let us know how it goes & what you did!0 -
My rings worth over £1000 retail but cost £350 direct from hatton garden. £55 would be in relation to its scrap value not commercial retail value and a pawn broker would easily double that if he was selling it on for loan default. As long as it sparkles well and you make an occasion of the proposal (I proposed to my H2B during the leap year, that was fun and he knew it was coming lol) you'll be fine. A friend of mine was asked on bonfire night. they went for a walk and as he asked the fireworks started going off and everything. made it magical and cost nothing! I'm going back to hatton garden for our wedding rings. Jewellery shop mark up is a rip off. good luck!:heart2:Got Married 1st may '10!:heart2:
Our Money Saving wedding was the best day of our lives!!

I don't think she knows anything about the ring but having a chat last night she told me she'd love a night where I put rose petals on the bed, cooked a nice dinner with love music in the background and all that. Didn't mention getting engaged or anything though.
Either thats a strange coincedence or she knows something, which would be nearly impossible!
Either way thats how i'm gonna do it. Nothing flash but sounds like her perfect way to get proposed to. As I said she never mentioned that though0
