screamer, I would remove the links to the houses you have offered on, and not post any more links etc until a deal on this house or another is signed, because you are giving away your position on a public forum which anybody (including the vendors or their agents) could be reading.

OK, I will when I figure out how to do it.

Will keep any questions to myself now. Considering this is the only place I could ask advice I guess I'm well and truly stuck now.

Incidentally, the vendors know everything they need to know, including that we cannot afford to go any higher. I'm curious as to what you mean by giving away our position.

    Links removed, as advised.
Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)

Nothing wrong with asking for advice - that's what these boards are for - but I just wouldn't post a link to a particular house! Up to you of course

Lots of people have put links on for specific properties, but I know where you're coming from.

I'm not excited anymore. Poppysarah suggested I shouldn't get too carried away, now I know what she meant :-(

i'm no expert, but that's what buying a house is like [was for me anyway].

saw a nice house - yay!
saw it from the inside - boo
saw another nice house - yay!
    too expensive - boo
saw another nice house - yay!
had an offer accepted - yay!
got rejected for a mortgage - boo
managed to find another 15% deposit down the back of the settee - yay!
    got a mortgage - yay!
    got conveyancers bill - boo
complete this coming friday - yay!
got a house to clean top to bottom - boo and yay!

it is a very exciting time getting a house. there's too much emotional investment and money involved for it not to be exciting! and scary! and a million other emotions. hang in there, screamer. x

    Hello folks.

Have bumped this thread because we've still not heard a thing about the house we like.

It's now about 4 weeks since we put in our offer, and since my last post, no one has called, kept us updated, or even told us what position the vendors are now in.

Should we be calling it a day and trying to find another house? OH parents say this is very unusual and that they should either be accepting our offer or refusing us so we can find somewhere else.

Holiday in 3 and a half weeks, would be good to know what's happening before then!!

    Any advice people??

Hi screamer sounds like they are 'waiting and seeing' if anyone else offers something better. You have been very patient - I'd have been on the phone within a few days saying 'either accept or we walk'! They sound pretty unprofessional.
