Thanks DKLS, that's exactly what we had in mind :-)
Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)

Hello fleebert. By T and A I assume you mean the Telegraph and Argus? I'm not a local lass but it's the only thing I can think of that might have property pages in it!

And which house do you mean, the first or the second house?

I got a call at close of business yesterday to say that the vendors will accept our offer if they get their offer accepted on the house they want, so it's kinda looking good.

Fingers crossed, will keep you updated!!

sorry for not being clear - yes, the telegraph & argus is, locally, known as the T&A. and i meant the house that you have just had an accepted offer on [2nd one]

i hope it all works out for you. i'm in the process of buying my first place as well, not too far from where you are. the searches are being done at the moment. it's quite exciting.

    Hello again fleebert and carlos.

Thanks for your best wishes Carlos, I'm happy that someone wishes us the best. Even if you are a cheeky little so and so :-) I mean that in the kindest way, I'm happy for a chuckle in a morning.

Aw fleebert. I'm so pleased for you!!!!!!!! We've found it really difficult to find a nice place and house in this area, would be interesting to hear your stories too. What was your price bracket and what area (roughly) have you bought in to?

Have you thought of Sandbeds rather than Crossflatts?

I was going to send you the link for one on Heaton Ave that is currently being 'improved' a little, but it isn't on Rightmove, and of the others for sale, there is a bit of a muddle. One says it's for sale but the new people moved in a week ago, another (same agent) says that it's sold, but it definitely isn't. Mix up there. And then I realised you have probably found somewhere now anyway (pity, we'd have been VERY close neighbours).

But it's a pretty good choice, generally, these are nice quiet streets, friendly and not far from the bus service, school, mini-Tesco etc. The primary school at Crossflatts is good and the area is zoned for Bingley Grammar rather than the Keighley schools. If you're not local, you'll like the canal for walks, the woods in Harden and Bingley has a nice Saturday market.

30 year mortgage.....i feel for you..i would rather die than having a debt for 30 years..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Hi folks. I'll answer all your questions :-)

Sandbeds, Keighley- OH wasn't keen. He hates Keighley and although I'm not local, I've seen enough "about my place" maps now to know Crossflatts is the same distance from Keighley as Sandbeds is. No point trying to make that very clear though. He's noyt happy about the area and that's as far as we have got in talking about it!!

30 years mortgage- Again, not my idea. I think he's silly putting an extra 5 years on it but that's his choice. I've tried telling him that it's basically an extra 5 years of interest to pay but it makes no odds. He has his ideas and he sticks to them (stubborn, just like his dad)

Kunekune, Thanks for your little piece of advice. The only benefit for me, apart from it being nice and quiet, is the central locality and of course the canal. We don't have kids and are not planning to either, but we do have a dog who I take out for really long walks whenever I feel well enough. I'm looking forward to having loads more places to walk. The transport links are important too as I'm not allowed to drive and doubt I ever will be.

Unfortunately, no phone call as yet to say we have definately been accepted, but we've got everything crossed. The suspense is killing me!!

Thanks though to everyone for your advice, especially the locals who can tell me things I don't know about this place :-)

Carlos, good luck with yours hunni. You done that bathroom yet? lol
