Well i have never been shown how to write like that, and have never had to write like that before either. I don't have a higher English, i only have a standard grade english, which i got a 3 for.
Honours is third and fourth year, junior and senior. Being a year three student doesn't really exclude you from the expected standards.
I would suggest going to a library and getting a book or two about writing academically. That way you can also see how it is done as well as learn about it.0 -

no it is not. Honors year is only 4th year.0 -
Firstly, don't get yourself in a panic, or let all this put you off, you've got into 3rd year, so take the bull by the horns!
It won't take you long to pick up the Harvard referencing system. A few quick googles will show you the basics. Ask tutors, read referencing at the back of books, be proactive about it and it will all fall into place.
I used to get myself tied up in knots about referencing, I came back to studying at the age of 32 and hadn't done anything academic since I was 17! But it's second nature to me now, and with a bit of effort it will be for you too.
Is Caley back now then?Come ride with me, through the veins of history...

Anything like what?
You have to quote information from books, articles, the internet etc on a BTEC National course, much less on an HND, and when you quote somebody you must say who you've quoted. Whether you do this formally in footnotes or infomally in the body of the assignment "as J Bloggs said in his article in Travel News in 2008 ...." may vary but you can't pass someone else's words and thoughts off as your own and you have to say where they came from.
What's so hard to understand about this?0 -

Nope, Glasgow and Strathy are the same. Honours is 4th year only.
As a Glasgow student I can categorically state that honours is both third and fourth year, junior and senior honours. Edinburgh also have honours over two years.
Either way, referencing is an integral part of any academic work, at any level. Even if you don't use a proper academic system, at least acknowledging work that is not your own should be obvious.0 -
