Well done on the KJP money Taxi, I'm pleased for you!
My accountant - the one I liaise with is charged out at £78 an hour, apparently - my bill last year was £483. There's the counselling income, the French apartment doo-dads, and now the mystery shopping. I rang the Inland Revenue to see if I could at least submit the mystery shopping income and expenditure myself, but it seems not. That has turned into a phone call to the accountant with somewhat emotional overtones - when I told she-who-is-charged-out-at-£78-an-hour that my mystery shopping netted me £2 an hour (and thats being over-generous) she said she'd look at it and see about getting me a discount, tho it isn't up to her.
If I get a discount, I *may* go back to them next year. If not, no way.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

They don't get paid that....... but its comparatively cheap as these things go. Bog standard lawyers, £250 an hour. I know one person who gets charged out at £500 an hour, and that was a couple of years ago. Come to think of it, we *are* in the wrong profession!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I would do the tax return myself online.........I did so when I was self employed with all sorts of income coming in left right and centre, and found that it was more straight forward than I had expected.
I am sure I saved myself a fortune - and still managed to get a tax rebate, so I must have been doing something right!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Thanks Hypno - the money I need to declare is from counselling and from mystery shopping, plus the money that goes out to the French apartment.
The accountants currently have all my paperwork except for the mystery shopping stuff (which is a couple of inches thick) - and she's tried to phone me after we spoke, as she said she would - I've tried her but she's on lunch now. We'll see if she can give me any appreciable rebate. If she can, I'll probably stay, but appreciable = big. We're talking current fees of almost 5% of my net, even with all the hours of work I put into doing the papers beforehand. Another 20 hours, say, would be £24 an hour, at last year's rates.
:eek::eek: I'm shocking myself here!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
