Thanks Hypno - I was thinking of your dad, I remember you saying he was in the services. I borrowed my parents' photo albums one by one, and then all the loose photos they had too, as part of my genealogical work. There are others, but this one is so poignant, and it can be seen easily even when its avatar size.

Its a lovely photo and a lovely thought -puts all this bingo business into perspective when you think about it so don't apologise about the bingo limit - have a life instead. Lovely to hear about your Egyptology day :T and about HH its looking good

Thanks DT - I was kind of worried, I must say.

Remembrance Day has become more and more important to me, I must say. And this year, its the first since my brother in law died in April, and he was in the forces, and there's all these young faces on tv dealing with loss and pain...... for me, this day is about the human level, completely ignoring the politics or whatever of it.

Remembrance Day gets more important to me too. I was thinking at the service this morning that I don't think Blairs parents told him how horrible war is as my parents did. As far as I can see we entered these recent conflicts FAR too casually. (not meaning to move this into the political, it's just these deaths this week have been awful)

Your Dad looks and young too :o That's war for you.

What a lovely pic of your father.
God bless all those that died for this country over all of the battles.

I've got an extra hour's work today, tomorrow and Wednesday, the schedule was looking really bare, so thats good. I'm *terrible* at getting to bed on time at the mo, even tho I'm so tired. And I nearly ate myself out of house and home yesterday, hardly stopped. Today, I've been doing the normal dfw checks on banking and scratches - can't get into Virgin or TAB even after I clear my cookies, I think I'm done with those - I have just about a fiver in Virgin, so might withdraw that and call it quits, I'm not sure if I got gubbed or not, but they certainly won't load for me. Weird.

And otherwise, I'm just slogging away at the accounts. Truly, I don't need to do much more, but I can really see how hard I make it for myself, because I loathe them so much :o ah well, soon done now.

  • I do like the picture of your father, a very apt rememberance.

Must admit i was crying the other day at the new Vera Lyn CD- the one with the Welsh male voice choir-those words are so Poignant and full of meaning.
Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:

Thanks Bob.... it was a kind of spur of the moment thing, but I'm happy with it.

Its strange, isn't it? Often those British propaganda films made *during* the war have the same effect on me - I always think, they didn't know they were going to win. They might all have gone down, and they put themselves on the line.

Morning all! I'm still feeling a bit low in energy tbh, still locked out of Virgin and TAB scratchcards, still got accounts work to do. Quite a boring post, really. Oh, except my bellydancing class is supposed to start tomorrow. Well, it *will* start, but I won't be going - I was sitting at the computer for too long yesterday, with one foot sort or twisted round so I was resting my weight on its outside edge. And I got up quickly and my leg just collapsed under me :o I had to just sit on the floor till I recovered. I'm just glad I haven't broken anything, but I'm still limping this morning. Really confirms to me the importance of posture and taking a break! :o:o:o
