Boo hiss to your Mum not being able to get down, although I have to say I braved public transport today and my trains were only slightly delayed. Main problems were at Stafford, causing backlogs elsewhere.

Agree with EssexHebridean re your christmas plans.

I've just had an email from friend/relative ( too complicated to go into) to say they're not venturing up from Cornwall as previously planned. We were due to meet up on monday & it will be shame not to see them, but on the other hand that's another day I've gained ... & we can meet up next year without the pressure of seasonal festivities.

Thank you all! Yep, I don't know whether to want her down or not - the thing I detest about Christmas is the preplanned-ness of every day - I have a lot to do in the next 3 days, and I'll do as much as I can of it, but they're the only 3 days of the whole two weeks I can call my own - oh, New Year's Day too, but I'll be recovering from New Year's Eve and thats it - every single other day is taken. I just don't like it. I'll have to have lots of early nights when/if she gets down to me.

I see you're describing it as pressure, Lula - its exactly that that gets to me.

Still and all. I've finished work for Christmas!!!! I'm very happy :j and I'm starving, and its snowing again, so I'm going to stuff my face :D:D

I must admit the pre-plannedness of every day for my family consists of:

• Eat too much
• Complain about the crap that's on the telly

I suppose the logistics of people being where they need to be is what causes the most hassle. I'm fortunate in that I drive, and I also drive in snow - so visiting parents and other people is hopefully not going to be too much of a saga.

Stay calm and listen to your inner Zen. If stuff doesn't happen, then so what? There is alway next time. It's not like Christmas doesn't happen every year.
