Pippajo that made me smile tell him that life after 50 is Ok too:D although I have to work out how old I am these days it just doesn't come to mind straight away probably senility setting in :rotfl:

ROFL I've spent years losing track of my age - including on one occasion in a job interview some years ago saying I was 23 and then having to correct it to 22! Amazingly I got the job!
DT - what are your skills and strengths - because that is where the key to the whole thing is if you would like to make a go of something self employed. I suspect that you are a good organiser, for example, you're clearly good at juggling lots of things going on at the one time so this is something to bear in mind. Try reading through the sits vac pages in the local rag and see which ads make you think "Ooh - I could do that!"🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hello KC and everyone else here.
Hmmmm to weather, better snow than wind & rain, at least it's pretty to look at.
I've been too busy working & doing techie type stuff to post much recently but have been reading here, honest.
Hugs & a good sprinkling of happy dust to all

Morning,
Just thought I would pop in to ask if you knew that the Travelodge £10 sale starts today for rooms between 1st Dec and 31st Jan. Not sure if you are planning any jaunts but it may be worth a look. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Hi Gill! You were missed! Hope your travels and being away from home aren't too difficult.Double_Trouble wrote: »Thanks KC I am confident in the things I do but not confident that anyone would pay me to do them and there are lots of things I do now that I don't really enjoy but do them because someone has to - if I was younger I think I would retrain as a social worker but I am too old now and the stress would probably kill me because I know I would take work home. I have been to the fostering panel today and other than actual fostering I think that is the most important thing I do and it gives me a sense of satisfaction but one afternoon a month does not a living make thanks for letting me pursue this on your thread it feels safe here whereas I never know who is reading my thread
as I found out before

I'm pleased that I/we can do that for you, then. I'm a bit troubled about very personal posts of mine actually - my 82 year old auntie just got online, and my mother is sitting at her shoulder - they're checking out facebook, and they looked at my business website yesterday :eek::eek:
Anyway .... yep, confidence and enjoyment are different things, you're right. Confidence in doing them unpaid and doing them paid .... that sounds like its about your confidence in you, DT, I hope that doesn't upset you, but it does. I can understand if you think that people wouldn't pay you the salary you *want* for those thngs, but thats another matter.
The fostering panel is the one for you - is that because of what you do there, or whats achieved? It sound like the latter. That makes me think of consultancy work in that field - I know things like that are being cut down on, but I strongly believe you have to go for *exactly* what you want - you may get less, but if your aim is already for a halfway house, then your pot is going to be half empty, its going to be three quarters empty, or some such.
Like Cheery mentioned, a patchwork life, multiple income streams - fostering panel, consultancy, the present business, Virtual Assistant (what you do for the charities but for businesses, who can't afford a whole you), OH's job .... I'm looking forward to the next round of this!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Hiya! I had a very quick looksee - I was wondering about a Saturday in London, to see a show at the Excel, but they're all gone - but thank you :j
Need to think about today, this is as far as I've got:
- wash my hair, its *disgusting*
- 2 hours paid work
- get all the recycling into the bin for tomorrow
- bit more vacuuming.
- accounts work
- GET OUT INTO THE OPEN AIR AT LUNCHTIME!!!!! I had a cancellation yesterday for my lunchtime session, and I'm sure thats the universe's way of telling me to do this
- get fully back into my new regime of eating/supplements - I haven't been eating bad stuff, but I let all the new stuff go while the leccy men were here, and I haven't started up again.
- phone the original leccy man and tell him I'm not satisfied with the plastering he did over the chased in wires - it looks as bad as a DIY bodge jobnot looking forward to that one, but its got to be done.

Open air is a good idea - hope it's not quite as icy there as it is here!
DT - you are clearly good at things that you do, so there is no reason why people wouldn't pay you to do them.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

I'm wondering too if recently I've been posting things a little too personal on mse and the matrix, I think I need to sort it out a bit, and maybe reduce some of the more identifiable bits.0 -
I don't think it harms the site, and it very possibly helps us as individuals....
Talking of helping us as individuals, my to-do list has gone pretty well - and not only did I phone the leccy man, he's here right now :o Its quite difficult face to face, to say "your work's not up to scratch".
Anyway, I've now done everything on my to-do list except the accounts - thats what I expected, and after all there's still a lot of day left! After the leccy man goes, I'll probably have a decaff coffee, something to nibble, and do a bit more.
Or maybe not2023: the year I get to buy a car0
