Hope you managed to get your shopping KC. The new routine sounds worth a go. My sister is currently doing something similar in her quest to become pregnant. She's seeing a Dr of Chinese medicine and they have overhauled all aspects of her diet and exercise regime.
I admit to begin sceptical at first, but there's nothing harmful (expect the price ) so why not? It's got to be better than pumping your body full of chemicals...
Have a good day0 -
Thanks macgirl! Exactly, nothing harmful - I did this ten years ago for quite a few years, stopped only when my own little personal financial crisis hit, and I've never felt so good, I was *brimming* with energy - very different from how I feel now. But I'll get back there
The shopping was good, I bought a few experiments (freefrom mince pies, reduced cos the cardboard box was bashed about) organic feta (only 38p more per block), organic coffee, as I'm going to keep on with one cup a day, vacuum packed chestnuts for Christmas - they always seem very Christmassy to me, and they were on offerit was great.
I'm going to be daring today, and follow Cheery's example of making pancakes - I've got a lurvely new nonstick pan I bought for that very purpose about 3 years ago, only used once, so today's the day!
And I have to do some more accounts2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hooray for pancakes! :j :j :j0

Oh Cheery! Sorry .... I chickened out ... the recipes looked like work
you know, how big is a cup of flour, how smooth can I get it, when have I beaten it enough
:o:o you can still be *fairly* proud of me tho - I went into the garden and did lots of measuring :j
The border at the side of the house, for instance, is 26 feet long (puzzled smiley) and two feet wide, overgrown by ivy, sedge and Japanese anemone, bracketed by a fern and what I think is a hebe.... This would be where my herb garden would go, in permaculture terms! There's a fern, which can stay, and some of the ivy can stay, but the rest is going to be gone. I'm doubtful about how much sun it gets, between the houses, but anything has to be better than how it is now.
And I did the rest of the garden too - and its not as bad as I feared - three rhodendrons to go (one over twenty feet high _pale_) two more sedge to go, two buddleia to cut back as they look really ill, a lavender to prune - well, everything else needs to be pruned, actually. Thats okay. I feel really pleased with that!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Glad you got some bargains, but pity you chickened out on the pancakes. 'Cup' is easy so long as you stick to the same measure. A measuring cup is strangely in mls, and I find that awkward because of working in ounces.
You've beaten it enough when its got no lumps inDebts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

D'oh about the beating
but cups ... I've heard that there's different measures for different stuff, even tho its all called cups? Am I imagining that? Uh oh, psychosis rears its head
:D:D
Ah well, I'm still pleased with the garden outline :j just got to work out how to represent it on excel now - I nabbed a copy of that allotment planning calendar many moons ago - can't remember who did it, but she had one sheet of an excel document for every month, and fed her family for 9 months of the year on it - its brilliant. I'm not doing quite that level of detail, not yetbut I'll set *one* up.

Measuring?? No need to measure! :j 'some' flour, mix in an egg with a fork, 'some' milk, a pinch of salt, and whisk til the lumps are out and you're laughing! :j :j NEVER be put off by measuring! :j :j (needs to be kind of melted chocolate consistency really, rather than watery, otherwise it'll just stick to the pan, but if it's not, just add some more flour - preferably mixed in a small extra bowl with a little milk first to stop more lumpiness
) xx
Well done on the garden planning! :T0 -
Oh rats, I was just on your thread confessing to you
ah well ... you're right, I know you are. I chose to be outside ... there you go. As Fred and George used to say, Mischief Managed!

Well no, you're not imagining it. Different foods are different densities so a given volume will come out at different weights..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Nice work on the garden :T Wish I'd been out today, but maybe next week. I've taken to online pretend shopping on Crocus. They do pre-prepared planting packs with a plan and I'd love one for a bed in our garden.
I love plants, but never really know what works together and tend to buy adhoc - whatever looks good at the garden centre. I might start hanging around the gardeners thread to pick up tips.
And I'm with Cheery on the pancakes - I never measure either. And I always find the first one goes in the bin as a kind of practise run - I'm starving now0
