KC- I've tried doing just meditation, and my minds immediate response is to fill the hole with sorting out 'life the universe and everything' :o

So now I tend to use the yoga approach of breathing or body relaxation exercises, where your mind concentrates on the your breathing or relaxing parts of your body, so it at least concentrates on something simpler and slows down.

I know other people use staring at candle flames, or guided meditation tapes etc..

One sample I came across was where it was simply listening to waves ebbing and flowing on a shore, which you naturally atune your breathing to.

So maybe it's a case of trying a few different things and see what works.

I'm still learning things too, and trying to find out what works for me.

Thanks se - yes, I think the guided way is the only way for me, at the moment certainly, there's so much to get in the way, I need that peaceful input before I can find my own peace on my own. No reason to try to do it without help! And thats the point of mse in general and the matrix in particular :)

Okay, back to practicalities. Shelving in the kitchen, 30cm wide or less (this is crucial, cos of where its going to fit): I've seen what I want at ikea, but they don't deliver. Argos won't deliver, have some in stock but I'd have to collect, and I don't want to ask my sister right now.

So, ebay! Found a great industrial type seller on there, huge satisfaction rating, and there are three options (bear with me, I want votes!):

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370195705831&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
this is my preferred option £27, but I need another shelf, and I've just checked, and they don't do extra shelves. Hey ho.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220406762616&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
this is the second option, £50 - two of the above! I could nick one of the shelves of the 2nd unit for the first unit. The second unit could go in the shed/outhouse, or be given away on freecycle.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230444681235&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
this is the third option, cost £65, size and number of shelves that I want, but £15 more than option 2 - it seems silly to pay more for less.

Votes please? I'm for option 2 myself. Its all the same seller, the same delivery terms, everything. Weird.

Option 2, unless you email them and ask about another shelf for option 1?

Sorry Squizz - thats what I meant when I said I already checked - I emailed them, and they bounced back straight away and said they don't do it.

For the first time, I've also checked how far out the thing will stick - it definitely gets in the way of my washing machine door (its being inserted lengthways, not the normal direction, which is why I need this industrial type thing, because its got empty sides, *thats* my access point. Well, I've left a footstool in the way of the washing machine, to see if I can live with that level of access - at the old place, it was definitely like that, so I certainly should be able to.

I've also just found out that my "pantry" is 770mm wide :) there are stupid shelves in there that could helpfully be replaced, tho then a plan I had for a little bookcase wouldn't work. Decisions, decisions!

Okay, off to lounge in the bath.

KC how much would it cost to get a taxi home from your nearest Argos ? Just thinking if it's cheaper than the ebay set......

Thats a good point, actually, Ellidee - it would be cheaper, by maybe £20. However, my little brain has been mulling things over in the bath :D

Result: the Argos set sticks out another 8cm.... I wouldn't be able to open the washing machine door at all :( so its a no go.

And I've had another measure up of the pantry - while actually *thinking* this time. The ebay units are 75cm wide, and 30cm deep. The pantry space available is 77cm wide, and way deeper than that. The little bookcase that I wanted to use in there (for posh china and whatnot) *will* still fit. And the ebay unit will look an awful lot nicer than the mdf thats in there now, plus lots more storage space thats lots more accessible :D

Definitely a result. Now I just need to order it so that it can be delivered when I'm available. These things do take time .... but this storage thing is the next step in clearing the living room to be used, and I *so* want that :j Tho I will just wait till this time tomorrow, when I've used the washing machine and checked its okay....

    Thanks Squizz! Thanks Ellidee!
