Sounds very exciting KC.
If you have the tv licence already then there is no reason to go without over christmas for your Mum. I tried to get a refund, it turned out that despite the fact that I had been paying for the licence for 19 years the name on the licence was ex OHs (not sure how that happened and hadnt spotted it) so they refused to refund me any money. Most annoying as they quite happily took it out of my account every month despite being a different name. Hate TV licensing because they send quite nasty letters about checking that you dont have a licence. Now I accept that they want to check but threatening letters are another matter altogether. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Thats so true! Luckily, the name is mine ... but I must do something about transferring the address, because I know I've paid I'm actually being quite lax about that one - the letters are *very* threatening, aren't they! And their system of checking up on you must be very accurate, cos they found me no problems

Still haven't opened the laptop - I've been really tired today, and after work, had a cup of coffee, and just couldn't relax and sleep like part of me wanted to, so I walked slowly to Sainsbo to check out the post-Halloween bargains. Nothing! Though I did get some soda crystals to throw all over the carpet to de-smell it - the chemical name is sodium carbonate, and though its not sodium bicarbonate, I'm hoping its close enough. It will cost me the princely sum of 91p if its no good, anyway
Going to back up the computer tonight, and watch Kirstie's HM Christmas.
See you later

I know I have to copy lots of files first. And I know that the first thing I have to do is check security systems and antivirus and whatnot - all that boring stuff that comes first, which I'm not really into. I *will* switch it on in a bit before its connected to the net. Its sort of so beautiful its a shame to sully it with my fingers

It will make it easier for me in some ways, definitely. But I've been watching the lights on my modem - the adsl light sometimes goes red, for no reason whatsoever. That may change when a speedy laptop is connected to it, but maybe not. I think that for my trading I'm going to have to find someone who's got a mobile app.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Pick up the letter and drop it into the shredder without opening. Problem solved."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Your router may still be training if it has been less than a month or so since you started up."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Sounds lovely visiting your house Cherisong! :T I'm with you on the nasty tv licence letters - I'm afraid I resorted to scrawling childishly in red pen one year 'JUST HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU I DO NOT HAVE A TV??? I HAVE MORE INTERESTING THINGS TO DO!!'
(evidently not any more as I now have a tv :rotfl: :rotfl:) Made me feel better
and I never got another letter from them
:rotfl:
Hooray for the laptop KC! :j :j0
