 This is separate from the rest of my diary ..... I desperately need to rant..... no solutions offered, please, there's no solution except stuffing my ears up with paper tissues and screaming quietly
I make twice weekly "duty" phone calls to my mum, lasting about half an hour, to check that she's okay, and have a chat, (plus a little one on Friday from London) and I've just had one of the worst ever, absolutely ever. She just doesn't stop talking - starting with a blow by blow account of what she's waiting to see on Kate Humble's TV thing, to what she hung out to dry today, to telling me my sister's news (when my sister told me herself a few days ago), to the more serious being called back to a local clinic to get her potassium levels reassessed.....
This was unbearable, it was just horrible. She's always, always rabbited, but this was way beyond what usually happens. She noticed, and told me how she was rabbiting, but she kept on doing it. I agreed that she was doing it, it would have been crazy not to. Thing is ... I went to a family funeral on Monday .... I'm ill .... I was working my socks off today trying to get train reservations so she'd feel more comfortable about our journey down south between Christmas and New Year..... and not only did she not ask, when I tried to tell her (and she *needed* to know some of this stuff) she talked over me and went back to one of her own topics.
I'm shocked, actually. She's more tired recently. Is this finally the start of her deterioration? I've offered to give up work and look after her, when she can't look after herself any more, but if she goes like that, I wouldn't last a week, I simply could not cope with her like that. Um, I think I'm worrying about that to stop me thinking how p*ssed off I am about this phone call, actually. Horrible.

hi KC
your right im afraid there is no solution,,,,
have the same problems with my mum..it takes a while to get use to(25yrs in my case:o:o) of letting it go over your head and not analysing it to much!!!
some times i think she looking for a reaction so i will shout at her,,,,so that others can give her sympathy,,,for me shouting at her,,,,
when she was over this time ive learned that all her good Jewellery(?sp) has gone to my niece not my sister or my daughter!!! also my niece is the main benefactor of the will and has the power of attorney!!!!
now there's no great fortune to be had ,,,,but it would be nice to have a say and be responcible for burying my own parents,,,,
she told me when we were having a heated discussion,,,,hoping for a reaction????i just said fine if that's what you've decided then that's fine by me,,,
it upset me for a while but you canr let them get to you any more than you wolud anyone else

Sympathies KC. Rant away passes over a virtual choccie too. xxBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Thanks both! Tissues will come in useful.....
Shaun, thats awful ... my mum at least tries to treat all 3 of us equally in relation to inheritance and whatnot. She's told me she talks to me more because I'm a better listener and because I'm not married (? she has a very old fashioned view of what marriage is - fair enough, I guess, as she's 83 years old). You're right that its not about money .... just nice to have a say - about big things like you're referring to, or little things like mine.....
Right, I'm off to have a walk up and down the road - and then I'm going to watch Legally Blonde, I love that film.....
G'night all, wonderful people all of you.

Old people!
I think they are more self obsessed than teenagers!
I love my parents but there's not one of us 4 kids who could live with them!
And yes, they think because I'm "single" I have free time to look after them, when in fact I have the same amount of house'n'kids to look after as my siblings who have 2 adults per household
Rant away KC, here is safe place to vent, and it may prevent matricide0 -
KC - passes a bunch of lillies and enjoy the movie - xTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

My "room by room" lists aren't working terribly well, two reasons:
- themes seem to work better for me - blitzing on tidying, or the garden, something.
- I work best by going with what I fancy - like, getting the garage a bit straighter really appealed to me *that* day, for some reason - and I got a real result. If I'd forced myself to do more work in the bathroom, I don't think I'd have achieved as much.
.
i find i am the same ...have been emptying the garage now that son has moved out (still have all his stuff from when he flitted in)0
