I am a *bad* person :D:D:D for still being up. But I just wanted to put this onto my thread so I wouldn't lose it. Its a livejournal entry from a favourite fanfic author of mine, to Snow:

"I realize that in the past, I have professed affection, and even passion for your fluffy white person. And I must admit, I was happy to see you spread across the landscape, and brighten up the dark and often dreary days of December. The blast of cold weather that prevented you from leaving was a nice bonus, although possibly slight overkill. The second storm and the prospect of snow for the holidays was still welcome, despite any possibly intemperate words I may have voiced during the hellish three hour drive home from work last Thursday and subsequent two hours of shoveling. By the Sunday storm (dumping another ten inches), I must say I was starting to feel like you have overdone it a tad.

This morning, brushing the six inches of 'flurries' off the top of my car before work this morning, I am starting to feel virulent hatred concerned that you may be overexerting yourself. There is still a lot of winter coming, there is no need to bury us quite this early. I would also like to mention the issue of snow on roadways- this is very inconvenient during the commuting hours. Kindly arrange for future snowfall to begin in the evening, and end several hours before the morning commute so that crews have time to clear the roads. Falling only on open fields and yards, while leaving roads and driveways bare, is an acceptable alternative, though possibly more difficult to arrange. Daytime snowfall on the weekend is acceptable.

Also, a break in the weather until after I have finished buying a snowblowerholiday shopping would be much appreciated. You have already put me severely behind schedule and this is causing a degree of crankiness incompatible with the holiday spirit.

If you will keep these suggestions in mind, I am sure I will continue to be able to sign myself

    Affectionately yours,
    R.

Isn't it great! She's American, so she's talking about *feet* of snow all the time, its just so perfect, that letter!

I stayed up *much* longer last night, being completely stupid, and to my shame I didn't get my hair cut today. I washed it ready (hadn't washed it since Wednesday) but by the time I got into town, I was feeling really tired. And I'm sure most of that was because I went to bed at such a ******** stupid time. I really, really, won't do that again.

Got to the bank, got to Waitrose. There's a problem with pesto supply in this country, once I've got the estate agent in, I'll be buying a basil plant and repotting it so I can make my own, I'm in withdrawal.

And the house is .... clearer. I don't want to do too much today, but its definitely clearer, and I'm a happy bunny about that.

    Love the letter..very well written.
Feel for you being up very very late and the feelings it brings.
You're clearing has gone very well.
  • I have to confess to never having made pesto. It's something I must try at some point though as it's SOOOOO nice! Oh bother, you've just reminded me I intended to pop to Lidl today for parmesan. Oh well, it can wait til next weekend now! I shall just do a meal plan that doesn't involve pasta! :D

I wish I'd had the energy to go to Lidl or Aldi - mind you, I had a Tesco delivery on Tuesday, stll got plenty of fresh veg from that. As for the pesto - I've never made my own either, its just the one brand that I really, really like, I find others quite sour. But my brother made his own all the time while he was a househusband. He grows his own veg now he has a garden again (and he has piggies, Wol!) plus he makes the bread, and some of the booze. Damn, he's a real OS style role model!

It must be true our eyes tell us just want we 'want' to see :)

I've always found pesto a bit hit and miss for me - I just shove all my basil in HM pasta sauces which I freeze for DD - lazy - MOI ? Of course!

I've never had pesto....may give it a try.
Your brother sounds like he has his head screwed on right and his wife is a lucky lady.

He has a full time job now, and still does nearly all of that (just not the pesto), he really is as good as it sounds

Yep, I'm wondering if HM pesto can be as tangy as the Waitrose stuff I love so much....
