It sure is, Taxi, you're right. I've just found a stiff handbrush under the sink I can use to clear the path of leaves (they're a bit congealed in the corners, a normal brush won't do it) and the "compost" can then be used to fill gaps left when the retaining wall was built.
I really didn't have much energy yesterday, so it was a question of just doing the basics and lounging about conserving energy. I'm still stuck at the "tidying" level, but at least I'm tidying.
Mm leafmould!
Tidying is good...
Did you ever find out what dubcon is?Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I'm pleased at what I've done the last few days, even tho timewise it only took a hour or so total. Two items ticked off the list, neither of which were very long:
- tidy some wires in the kitchen - I thought I'd have to use those things that look like nails with loops on the end, but I just stuffed the wire up behind the back of the cupboards - which is where it fell down from in the first place
- tidied the cubbyhole in the kitchen - in spite of my best efforts, its a hotspot in flylady terms. Again, didn't take long, but its ready to be fiddled about with when the painting bit kicks in ( the kitchen is the only room I'll try to paint, because a lot of it has bare plaster:o).
And I've just been using that stiff handbrush on the front steps, and part of the pavement (there were plants growing in the leafmould, its so thick:o) *very* good for the garden.
Turfy, I have 2 big boxes of mementoes - postcards, letters, orders of service for weddings and funerals, all sorts of things - I'm not touching that yet! :rotfl:
And oopsie, dubcon - I googled it in the end, cos I still don't know what it meant - and woah, this is from the urban dictionary:"Used in fanfiction to describe sexual situations of "dubious consent", where it's not exactly noncon (nonconsensual, e.g. rape), nor is it consensual." Except they can't spell consensual, so I've changed it . I know what it refers to in the story tho - the good guy sets himself up as a honey trap for the bad guy. The good guy wins the day, of course, but isn't quite reunited with his partner yet - he goes back to the monastery where he found himself to get clean again. He really is on the side of the :A but it *is* gritty, just like she said.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Ah, you see I was going to Google it, but thought it sounded a bit er 'dubious' for work
Well done on the tidying - have a nice evening xDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
It is, isn't it! I thought it wouldn't come up with conventions in Dublin, but still ....
Evening is going to be good, once I've done my phone call to my mum - hope yours is too

I did, thanks Taxi - tho I must say, I feel very snuffly
And there's snow outside, tho not much. I just put the recycling outside, and its gone already, hurray. The snow must be on the way out too, as the sun is now cracking the flags.
At the moment, I am *continually* surprised by the way that there's so much stuff that can be tidied away, or thrown out, or put down into the garage - I'd never have said I had that much stuff around in the house. I think one big thing is that because I let the garage get unuseable, stacked with empty boxes and whatnot, all the ordinary stuff, like DIY stuff, that people put in garages, was actually lying around in the house. Which made the house look and feel terrible.
Not quite sure what to do today; I certainly have a couple of emails,I have my French accounts to finish - the job from the list I really want to do is to get all this "stuff" I'm talking about down into the garage (e.g. the wallpaper stripper, the angle grinder, more paint tins, that sort of thing) - my mum is coming down to my sister's for half term, and they're coming over to me on Monday - I'd like the place to be a little more back to normal than when they last came down - that was the day they ended up taking me to A&E:o so to show my mum I'm better than I was would be nice
:o
Hope everyone has a good (warm!!!) day2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Sounds like you are definitely making progress, it does make you feel so much better having less clutter about doesn't itDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

:hello: I'm amazed that there's all this progress to be made! And I *am* making it :j
I've got to shut down now, got some paid work quite soon, but I've been finishing off the French accounts - they're nearly done now, all I've got to do is scan the invoices I haven't already scanned, fill in the form (which only has 3 boxes, to put numbers in, and takes about 3 minutes), and I'm done. I'll send it off tomorrow.
Hurray! And then I can focus, not only on selling the house, but becoming a millionaire2023: the year I get to buy a car0
