Hi Shaun - I've just been on Hypno's diary, going to catch up with yours next, I didn't see you on there the past couple of days.
I'm glad you get the sense of what I'm saying - maybe because for us older ones (I don't *quite* count you as one of the older ones, maybe because your family is so young, but I should, I guess!) - well, I'll speak for myself - my energy levels now are much lower than when I was in my 20s or 30s, and it feels like I have less time to correct mistakes - in fact, I very, very rarely thought in terms of "is this a mistake" back in the day - it was all about, do I want to, do I think I'd like it more there than here, stuff like that.
Now, with the stuff I'velisted above, its more like, could I do it? Could I keep at it? . Would it gel with what I do already? Could I bear to do a paid job again? Can I take the continued risk of staying in self employment? Blah blah blah, and so on and so forth, ad infinitum.
The online bookshop has only just come up - I keep thinking of Uncle Rogi in the Galactic Milieu series, and a neighbour of my mum's does it very successfully - and, believe it or not, it probably wouldn't be science fiction, it would be history - I love history - English, British, Ancient Egyptian, Greek, early American, prehistory, Celtic, Indo European, you name it, I love it.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi karmacat! Just checking in quickly as I'm working today.
I completely relate to the "could I bear to do a paid job question", for 14-odd years of self-employment that was the last thing I wanted. But having taken one recently, I am finding it less bad than I thought and in some ways quite liberating. Definitely consider it.
Do you sell books on Amazon now? If so, I recommend the Amazon Sellers' Discussion Forum as an invaluable source of knowledgeable advice on bookselling.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Hi Seaxwyn! Thats a thought, you tossed that around for ages before you went for it, didn't you.
I sell a few books on Amazon, but only stuff of my own that I'm decluttering - my mum's neighbour, by contrast, tours the country for his stock, and I'd need to do it at that level, I think to make an appreciable income from it. But the discussion forum on here is a good starting point, thanks - I was going to pop over to Amazon, but here first is better :kisses3:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi KC I can understand where you are coming from too I have been having a bit of a rest on the MSE front just keeping up with peoples diaries but not posting as much - just feel that my personal debtbusting isnt that interesting at the moment - just same old - but saying that I would be really disappointed if some people stopped posting as I need inspiration - suppose its the feeling that what I have to say is not that particularly interesting but on the other hand that can only be judged by other people - there you go ramblings that make no sense:o:o:o
To sum up my ponderings I think what I am trying to say us we are all entitled to a short break but we have to come back and post to hopefully help others (need confused smiley!!!!!!!)
Good luck with the thinking

Hi sweetie! Yep, thats another good point - and, tbh, I'm not doing any debtbusting at all, I don't have the energy. Overviewing and making those very big, lifechanging decisions is much more important right now. Present day detail is still on the s*dding accounts - my accountant needs to know how many days the French flat was rented out for, and the woman I spoke to in France didn't get it, so I have to ring again tomorrow - when I start up dfw work again, I'll focus on bingo and matched betting at first. Mind you, I have an appointment on Thursday with my PEP provider (taken out when I was rich) - they're giving me £60 for an hour long interview at a local pub! I'm quite chuffed at that.
And I *will* keep posting - just make sure you do the same! :kisses3:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Thats a deal about posting.
£60 for an hour in a pub sounds like a very good idea:T
Not doing any bingo at the moment can't find anything worth doing.
Still not started matched betting:o

I can totally see where you are coming from.
These life changing deciscions are so draining both mentally and physically.I'm sure everything else will flow more smoothly once you've made your mind up what to do.These are important deciscions and deserve a lot of thought..you'll know when you've made the right choice when you feel it!!!!..IYKWIM.
Think shaun is on the right lines with us older ones as it's harder to get out of a situation.I think it'salso the time of year that we all think about what we want as well.
Don't ever think your musings are un interesting though as it's all part of youand we are all here to help anytime you want.0 -
