ITC Legal Services - Avoid Them

I am in dispute with itc -and appreciate reading experiences here.
There is a case before the High Court as I write this which could give the beneficiary(ies) the right to force a corporate executor to renounce their appointment. See 'Times' of 1 February 2010 - under legal cases.
The resolution of this case may force itc and others to change their stance!0 -
Hello all,
Just a quick update regards our dealings with ITC, which can be found on some earlier posts.
Mr Trees contacted my Girlfriend after we contacted them regards being unhappy with their service and Fees. He was very polite and well spoken and listened intently while we aired the problems we have encountered.
He said he would look into our particular case and would contact us within the hour to resolve any issues we had. We were also asked what he could do personally to leave us happy with their service/fees.
We went through all the problems we had found and informed him of the sudden appearance of many fees which had not been pointed out to us initially.
He went off for a few Hrs, then come back later that day as promised.
He then agreed to deduct over £1300 of the bill, the amended bill was received within a few days.
We personally are now very happy with the outcome, not just because of the deduction. More so the fact that he hopefully took on board the problems we had encountered and this may stop anyone having a similar problem.
Yes, it’s unfortunate that these problems arise, but I take my hat off to the Mr Trees for approaching us and putting up with some serious earache, then fixing the matter.
I think the moral of the story is to choose carefully when you need these types of legal services.
Best regards
Good for you, but I'm sure your direct complaint to Barclays fast tracked the complaint with an agreeable resolution due to the the deal that ITC have with Barclays. Would not be good for ITC to rub up their 'regulated' company partner by failing Barclays customer when they use ITC. As Portlandboy points out, changes do not seem to of been implemented as clients are still dealing with the same problems, The unexpected fees are still taking clients by surprise yet Mr. Trees has been made aware of this problem in the past. Why does resolution have to be found at the end when the client has gone through so much pain?0 -
I just want to say if you look up itc legal services and the bereavement advice centre its funny how there both registered to the same address. I knew a lady who worked for itc legal services on the bereavement advice line which i didnt question but this makes sense on what they were doing.0

And if you read the info on the BAC website it says that the BAC started taking calls in the January of 2007 and formally launched at the House of Commons in June 2007.
It also says that the BAC was established and are supported for an initial period by a partnership of the National Association of Funeral Directors and itc Legal Services (Independent Trust Corporation). Both organisations had received calls requesting the type of support that the BAC gives which was outside of their (the Funeral Directors and itc Legal Services) remit and they resolved to provide a solution. Their support is for a finite period until we are able to apply for charitable status.
So this reads to me that itc helped create BAC with the Funeral Directors.
Interesting that the BAC was formally launched at the House of Commons? I wonder if it was known by the the powers that be in the House Of Commons that the BAC would be steering the bereaved towards their very own unregulated company itc?0 -
If the Mr T is reading this thread perhaps he'd like to remove the following sentence from his website "Transparent fixed-fee service – our philosophy is to keep things simple, so we have a one-off fixed fee with no surprises at the end".
It's a bit of a fib! The fee isn't fixed, is not transparent or simple and not surprise free! Perhaps something along the lines of "Our Fee - Just as much as everyone else, we just hide it behing marketing babble". Probably wont get many punters through the door this way though, although it'll be more honest!
Glad that this thread is only second to the ITC website on google listings. Hopefully a few people will be put of using them.0 -
I think the problem isnt just itc even though from the threads on here the service has been terrible. I personally belive that there is two much misconception of what probate is and if people understood about it a little more the fees these companies charge would be even more scandalous. I also think giving them a property to handle as well just gives them even more options to find bills and charges. Especially when your going through a bereavement. personally if i went through probate i would use a company that just did the probate legal work so i can get on with other areas like funerals and support for the family.0

Trading Standards spring to mind on this one. A bit of a fib is an understatement!!!!0 -
Hi all,
I'm currently dealing with ITC legal services.
They've been an absolute nightmare, we had to chase solicitors for them to get deeds for the property, letters not sent when they said they have, the same sort of experiences as people on here have mentioned.
Anyone who is checking up on them on the internet is finding this thread, so to portlandboy and everyone else who's written on this thread.....I applaud you, well done. You may have saved others going through the same distress.
With this thread nearly reaching 6000 views and second on Google, I do wonder how many potential clients have been put off or cancelled using their services. As their image is mainly potrayed on the internet, as expected they are being judged on the internet too, in the six months since this thread started no improvements to their service has been made. So If ITC legal Services or M. Trees are reading this, then you really ought to get your house in order.
After my experience with ITC Legal Services i would suggest anyone who is dealing with probate or a will, go local or by a recommendation.
if you go local
You can go into an office and relay your problems
Correspondense can be dropped in, so you don't have to worry about important documents like Birth Certificates etc go missing in the post.
The process will be a lot quicker
Solicitors will be regulated, ITC Legal Services are not
With articles in the papers today about Fraser and Fraser Heir hunters taking 40% fee and as previously mentioned in this thread Will drafters from Croydon being taken to court regarding excessive fees, how long will it be before we see the headline "My ITC Legal Services Hell" in the newspapers?0 -

Justice will be done.. I too thank Portlandboy for bringing this to the internet worlds attention. I was so isolated before finding this forum not realising that so many people were going through the same.0 -
