Ok my random question of the day, what age do toddlers/kids start using crayons and drawing/scribbling? My sister in law tried giving elliot one but so far he just wants to eat it! :) So excited over daft things like this as i'm arty myself.
Alice got a set each of crayons, coloured pencils and felt tips for her first birthday. I found she couldn't manage to colour with the pens very easily as she couldn't get them at the right angle to make a mark. I can't remember how long it took for her to get what she was supposed to do but initially it was always a direct supervision activity as she would try to eat them. Once she stopped eating (can't remember how long that was - somewhere between 3 and 6 months I think) them I put the crayons and coloured pencils in a pencil tin on her table along with a scribbling pad so that she could do colouring any time. At some point she started eating crayons though (but not the coloured pencils ) so now she just has the coloured pencils. She still struggles with the pens though so they're only occasional use under supervision.

Keely - Archie could do scribbles at 11 mths and can now hold a pen/crayon like you are supposed to (if that makes sense) but he doesn't do more than scribble still (he is 22 mths). I bought him a white board from tesco so he can scribble on it (under supervision) while in the high chair and he loves that - just have to hide all pens etc from him unless he is captive though as he will draw on everything.

what is the tutor for? from your BF training?

That reminds me I start my bf peer counsellor training on Thursday, I'm really really nervous! What training have you done Krytal? You're a proper lactation consultant aren't you? How did you get to that?
**runs and hides from the backlash she will get** ;-) x

No backlash, just do what's right for you and lo. Enjoy your spicy and wine :-)

Sling ladies, I think I've found us a venue, but we have to pay for it (it's so hard to find somewhere free so I found somewhere cheap instead!) basically it'll have to be £2 per session.

I know you didn't intend it this way Tine, but I think I need to withdraw from that debate. I feel too vulnerable and sensitive right now to feel that any of my parent club friends feels I am not giving my new baby the best start.

I felt very tearful when I read that, and feel, on reflection that I shouldn't discuss it if I am vulnerable to the response. You spoke about your pregnancy being hard, so I hope you will be able to understand my need to look after myself and my feelings a little. Sorry.
    :grouphug:
weezl, i'm sure none of us feel that you arent giving your baby the best start, IMO you are probably the lady (and susan) of all of us that WILL give your baby the best start as you are probably eating 10x healthier than any of us did - remember the ice cream and maccy ds addictions on the PG thread? :rotfl: while we were all munching away on large fries and mcflurrys, you were eating fruit and veg, like the rest of us probably should have been!! you have huge access to medical research, i know and you know that you would have trawled that research before making the decision to try for baby number 2 to make sure it really was safe for you both, and no way would you have made that decision if it wasnt.

i think thats a bit unfair to say? if your body wasnt ready to have another so soon then you wouldnt fall pregnant. the female body is designed to have a baby a year and im sorry but as for saying that you wont give your baby the best chance then thats crap. i have got my first 2 and last 2 close together. there is 13 months between them and they are all perfectly fine and healthy. they are all love get lots of attention and are very well cared for.

I slowly stopped posting as much because i couldn't join in/help/advise with breastfeeding problems etc and now Elliot is a bit older, i feel as if im getting in the way of newer moms needing help/don't want to fill the pages with random chat/rubbish!
:naughty: i DEMAND you post some randomness, at least once a day :D

Well i have made a big decision today im not going to continue with the breast feeding. Bubs just doesnt want to know and keeps turning away from the breast instead of trying to latch and the expressing has made my boobs so sore i can barely move for the pain.
lolly, no backlash from me either, i gave up for exactly the same reason - seth took to the boob after a few days, then despite all the MW help i still got sore nipples, then they sorted themselves a bit and he fed really well til 2 1/2 weeks, then he did exactly what you described there, and when it didnt get any better after a few days i decided it was better to FF than get myself upset with him crying each time i offered him the boob. well done on recognising whats recognising whats best for you at a time you're feeling so fragile :)

    :p

I've just been reading the Pampers site and it looks to me like it's New Baby until 15lb (a 15lb newborn?!), then Active Fit for daytimes and Baby Dry for night times, if you believe their marketing, obviously ;)

Might have to do a price comparison... Suppose we only need Active Fit once Rhys is more.. errr.. active! :o Let's hope he's big enough for them then!

I never used them but I've heard the newborn ones are for absorbing exclusively breastfed babies' poo. Alice was too big for size 2 nappies by the time we went on holiday at 3 months (although we used Nature nappies when we used disposables so they may not be exactly the same size as Pampers). I also found Alice grew out of each size well before the maximum weight on the guidelines. (Presumably it depends on the baby's shape.)

i wanted to do it through summertime, but she just wasnt ready. but recently she has been telling me that she is wet/dirty. tonightwas a complete coincidence though. she came home from having a walk with the dogs with her daddy and i noticed her nappy was bulging, so took it off and let her dander about without one. i noticed her crouching and touching herslef, so got the potty out and told her to do pee-pees in the potty, and that was it!! :T :j
