Anyone know how bad a Child's cough needs to be for a doctor to care IYSWIM? would it have to be constant? What do they do? give them an inhalor?
I don't think Chris needs to go I'm just interested

They will check his lungs if it is constant, sounds very bad, makes him sick, has a temperature with it or is belly breathing (belly goes in and out meaning he is only using the top of his lungs in that case it's a get seen now job), has had it for over 2 weeks or is very poorly (not eating and drinking as normal and isn't playing or making much effort to move). Or atleast they do with DS2. But he has a history of chest infections and pneumonia and has a 'weak chest'/lowered immune system. I tend to just take him in and say 'oh it's just for you to have a listen and a wee check to be on the safe side'.

Oh parental leave may become more flexable? Great news, two weeks for dads is not enough so being able to split the leave bewtween mum and dad would be great. Would be better if paternity leave could start before the baby is born though I'm thinking for when poor sods like me end up in hospital for weeks before the baby is born, especially when there are older children at home. I had to fight to stay at home the last couple of weeks, simply could not afford to be in hospital as we had no child care! Had to lie and say husband would be at home too.

Jillie, congratulations and hugs. You can vent here anytime so don't bottle it up, what else is an internet forum for?

Can I come to birmingham? And can DH too?

I made tablet, no idea what it's going to taste like but looks good! And I feel really poorly today, sore throat, ears, head and I have a cough. Not that it is a bad cough, but every now and again I do cough. Which is kind of a novelty for me, I don't get many coughs at all. Really tired even though Amber slept from midnight till 7.30am when I woke her up.

I need a kick to go clean the bathroom and start glossing the paintwork (DH slaps it on and it runs so I do glossing) but I can't be bothered. Got a nice new bit of lino too, only been needing it for over a year, and a bargain! The size we needed was £56 yesterday but when we went to get it he said £35 and it's enough to do twice! He was too lazy to cut it so gave us what was left on the roll!

    Evening all

I have actually managed to flick back and catch up with quite a few posts...but forgot to quote and can't remember half of it now.

    Caz - congrats on house

Elle - good news on blood tests and the improvement with the change of meds for Rhys

I will be up for a meet in Birmingham, although you probably get sick of me saying I am coming to meets and then not turning up...they just always seem to fall when I am mad busy....OR maybe I am just always mad busy but only realise when I try to plan something!!!!!

Tigs - I would definitely go to a Heaton Park meet, I went there to see OASIS a couple of months back, one of there last gigs before splitting, so has fond memories for me...

    Congrats on new babies.

I have made a lovely new friend who lives only down the road - I may have mentioned her before, she is just so lovely and down to earth we get on really well. We have gone to a mums n tots group for the last few Fridays and we are going to try a different Thursday one this week as well.

I attended Uni for the first time today, it is set in a LOVELY area and in lovely very well kept grounds...No idea what the course tutors etc are like yet as I don't start properly till next week, but everyone raves on about the friendly personal touch that the uni tries to maintain. Going today meant that Kai and the boys went to the childminder for the first time today...It seemed to go ok, but she did tell me that Kai had been fine and only had a little cry when he woke up after a nap, but when we cam home the boys told me he was screaming his head off on and off for ages!!! I trust them 100% and they know the difference between him crying a bit and screaming, as he is always so happy usually and will have the odd whinge if tired/hungry/dirty nappy etc... Not really sure what to think, I know she is probably trying to make it so I don't feel bad for leaving him (she knows how hard it is for me) but I'm not sure if I like the fact that she has hidden the truth from me!! The boys were utterly bored there, but she is trying to get hold of a games console for them (and the others) to use....apparantly she has mainly had girls for ages but now seems to have all boys, so has tons of arty crafty things in but not many 'boy' toys like balls etc...although she is rectifying that this week.
I am not in uni again for the rest of this week so am not sending them in now until Monday, although might do for a couple of hours just to help them get a bit more settled!!!

I am sure everything will work out in the end....I just NEED to make sure all 3 kids are happy or I will just be miserable myself.....

    Mel x
