  • Feely, I always fed Aimee to sleep in the early days, it was never a problem for me... And in all honesty probably got me more sleep than if I'd left her to it... She was about 7/8 months when I started putting her down awake, she didn't always settle straight away so it sometimes took a bit of bum patting and shushing to quieten her down but it was a natural transition and I don't recall any battles over it... She quite often ended up in bed with me until she was 3 1/2 anyway...

Caitlyn is like Aimee's polar opposite... She sometimes falls asleep at the breast, sometimes goes to bed awake but 3 nights now she's slept until after 6! She's quite happy to be rocked to sleep too as long as she's not hungry so I don't worry about leaving her with hubby for a few hours... I just remembered what I'm doing tomorrow night!!!! I'm going out for a couple of hours :D It's my church house group... Used to be at my house but moved to my friends house in the last couple of months of my pregnancy and tomorrow will be the first one I've been to since then!

Now I'm sitting here chatting when I'm supposed to be making my kitchen a healthier environment for food preparation!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...

BM if you are bleeding at that moment they can't do a smear. But I'm not so I better get it done (MM do I get a hug if I do?).

lil miss, what frustrates me is that in hospital (Amber was in special care and getting EBM top ups) I was getting double what I get now. But the mastitis put me pff the electric double pump and I used my little hand pump. Only expressed once a day when I got home so I think I need to work back upto it. Using the mini electric now though.

september baby, caz, nikkiT, mummy2my girls

    can any of you advise?

I'm just thinking through the pros and cons of whether to reappear in work at all between the two periods of maternity leave. After quite a bit of thought, it seems better not to, so they can just extend my maternity cover person's contract for another year, and save on hassle and recruiting costs. However, I'm not sure if this is necessarily how they'll see it!

Did any of the mums with a short age gap need to tacle this, and do you mind sharing what happened?! other advice also welcomed :)Elle, you're in HR right? What's your take on this?
    :)

Just to let you know there will be a Cardiff SlingMeet on the 2nd October at 2.30pm in Cafe Junior, Fanny St, Cardiff.
Talking of rods for backs and self-settling. Those who fed/nursed babies to sleep, when did it become a problem for you? LO is 5 months old and I still nurse him to sleep whenever he wants, and have no problem with doing so. My Mum loves it, because I let her rock him to sleep. When might I get fed up doing this, or will I not?
I always fed Chris to sleep at night and still kinda do, I think it'll only be a problem when we want to get him dry in the night, I suppose we just need to give him his cup of milk earlier so he has time to go to the loo before bed
When Chris was a baby I don't think I ever really put him down awake, I changed that when he was about 12mths though because it got a bit difficult at nap times, I did a spot of my own version of CC/CIO we have a camera in his room so I would watch him from downstairs and only go in if he was REALLY upset ie. screaming crying not just sobbing a bit.
Edgar has gone to sleep easier from birth so when he's not fallen asleep on the breast I just pop him in his basket awake and see what happens, sometimes he just chats a bit while we wriggles into a comfy position others he cries so I pick him up and give him a cuddle/bit more milk to get him sleepy again.
    HTHs xx
