    what she said!
Have a look what things have sold for on ebay (by doing an 'advanced search' and selecting 'completed items') or get something that another store like tesco sell, take it back to them, I'm sure they'd give you a voucher/exchange without a receipt if you say it was a duplicate gift or something ;)
for example THESE are also in tesco

    Hey all..

We slept 2am-5.30am then 6am-9.30am then 10am-1pm and Rhys is just having another nap now - well, he's pretending to sleep but is fiddling gently with my necklace too..

Physio was coming at 1.30pm and comms nurse at 4.30pm, but the comms nurse switched her appointments around so she could come at the same time, then the physio phoned me at 12.30pm to ask if she could come at 3pm instead :wall:

I've been reading in between naps all morning but can't remember half of what I was going to say, so just *hugs* for all.. :o:D

Elle - is that a good night or a bad night?
We had a terrible one. DH said he'd do the late feed (11.30pm, now a bottle) so I went to bed at 9.30pm and slept til Alex woke at 4am. Just as he woke Imogen appeared claiming there was a "green thing" in her room. DH put her back to bed. She appeared about 3 more times, roughly every 30 mins until 6am. Alex fed for 30mins and then fussed for the next 90mins, refusing to sleep unless he was on my chest. DH got up at 6.30am having had about 5 hours sleep total, bless him.

At least I managed another hour after he left, and got up at 8am to feed Alex before waking Imogen (grrr) at 8.30am to get her ready for MIL to collect her and take her to playgroup. (She has Mondays with MIL and goes to a playgroup in her village)

Alex napped for about 30mins while I shopped at the supermarket, having cried for the previous 20, and has only just drifted off now. So he's pretty much been awake since 8am. I have a bit of work to do, so can't nap while he does, yawn...

Disposable nappies and disposable wipes if you use them? Things for when the baby gets a bit bigger? (e.g. baby cutlery, clothes in larger sizes, bibs, sippy cup) I have a friend who was given loads of Mothercare vouchers when she had her second baby and she used them on wipes and SMA.

lol I meant I've not bothered with the 'sexy' ones because they cost too much (£30+) I've got 8 plain nursing bras
Ah - that makes a bit more sense.
I think 24week abortion limit is way too long (unless there is a medical reason or at least a genuine reason why it shouldn't be continued with)

I've heard of people getting a sex scan at 20weeks, then finding out it's not what they wanted and then getting an abortion. It's terrible.
We've decided not to find out the sex of our babies beforehand in the future because it is associated with a higher abortion rate. Not that we think it's wrong to find out the sex but we feel uncomfortable with the assosciation. (We also intend to delay the scan until nearer 24 weeks because we are convinced the reason it is at 20 weeks is to give people time to arrange an abortion after the scan.)

susan what risotto recipes do you use? i love risotta but OH doesnt think he likes it, i want to try him with a couple of recipes of it just to make sure! i'm sure if i gave him a slab of meat with it he would like it
I've got a book of rice recipes - will go see if I can find a link to it online later. It's really good as for the most part you don't have to get obscure ingredients for the recipes. (I have the pasta one too which is also great.) I also sometimes do risottos which aren't really proper risottos by cooking random veg and then mixing it up with leftover rice, leftover chopped meat and some stock and then heating it right through. The other one is pea risotto from a supermarket recipe - if you're interested I'm sure I could type out my own description fo the recipe for you later.

i know the limit is so high because of the detailed deformity checking scan not being til 20 weeks, but i do think the law needs changing desperately. 24 weeks is far too long. perhaps if doctors were able to extend the limit in special circumstances i.e. finding potentially fatal deformities/life restricting illnesses/extreme disabilities at the 20 week scan it would be more acceptable, but that would open a whole can of worms against the doctors that would get to make that decision. mind you is it still the case that two doctors have to agree to an abortion in the first place, so it would be very hard to get such a late one without very good reason?
They already do allow abortions after the limit for "serious" disabilities but if they do it before 24 weeks then they can do it for "social" reasons and then nobody can argue with it (unlike when they give reasons like cleft palate or club foot).

I gave a very watered down account of what happened. I know she is fine and thriving now but it still upset me to think about it. Probably like most people who's baby is born not exactly as they had hoped for, I aslo blame myself a little for not being able to keep her safe till she was due.

Not too bad.. Would prefer it if he was going longer (sometimes does 4-5hrs) but at least he was settling well enough again last night :)

Hugs for your bad night.. :( It's the not settling quickly that gets me.

I really must start going out more.. I haven't even comtemplated supermarket shopping or been in to town on my own with Rhys yet.. :o

becles thats the kind of thing that really worries me... imagine if someone else had been PG with charlotte and they had decided to terminate, it doesnt bear thinking about *shudder*
    Sami_Bee wrote: »
:eek:it makes me feel sick that someone different might have aborted.
Charlotte is fabulous and still would be if there were some damage I'm sure.

It makes me feel sick thinking what if someone had. They said afterwards that the brain shadow could have been the full thick head of hair she was born with!

There was no way I could have gone through with it. Friends of my parents were foster carers and used to get bairns with downs and cystic fibrosis and other conditions. I used to mind them in the church creche so the foster parents could listen to the service in peace. They had some fabulous bairns and they were all so loving - bless them!
Here I go again on my own....

Emlou - I forgot before, is your OH a fan of cheese?
I do a Jamie Oliver risotto that has tonnes of (fattening :undecided) cheese in it topped with parma ham or similar cured meat. I almost know the recipie by heart if you want it (and I may have an e-version of the book if you want me to check, I could email it)
