A WARNING
BEWARE: SEEFILMFIRST's DATABASE OF EMAIL ADDRESSES MAY HAVE BEEN HACKED INTO !
Or they've lost control of who they've passed it on to
My registration at SFF, several years ago, used an email address that is UNIQUE to SFF
It has only ever been used there and never posted anywhere else.
Originally, for a couple of years or more, ONLY communication DIRECTLY from SFF arrived on this unique email address.
Then other "official", "non-spam" but some "spam-ish" FILM related emails were delivered using the SAME ADDRESS.
I'm guessing many of you have probably had the same ones and maybe not realised from where they originated.
My brother's emails (also registed "uniquely" with SFF) reflected the pattern of my SFF addressed emails almost identically
Specifically these were from Paramount Pictures (started Jun 2008), Optimum Releasing (July 2008) , Sony Newsletters (Sept 2009) and TotalFilm (Sept 2009)
NONE of which have I signed up for directly, at least NOT with the email address reserved for SFF.
Anyway, and the point of this post ... SPAM ! :spam: SPAM ! :spam:
Just doing some email housekeeping and I've found REAL SPAM on my SFF address.
So either SFF or one of their "partners" have been "got at", OR "they've let the cat out of the bag"
Today I've been offered those "online drugs" that nobody wants.
Looking back I was spammed on this address for the first time, to my knowledge, about a week ago.
Checking with my brother he's got the same, the 1st known instance about 5 weeks ago, followed by another about a week later.
So just be aware - your email address used at SFF appears to have ben compromised

i assumed that some of the email relating to the film industry was becuase i'd been to free screening paid for by these companies. the logic being if i've been to one of their screenings i must be one of their regular customers so they are just letting me know they have an online presence, too. i always thought of sff as an intermediary and am not suprised when a company wants to contact me more directly.
the only one that has given me probs is disney. i used to subscribe to the film factory which became the disney site. it keeps sending me round in a loop as i can;t remember my password to unsubscribe. now they just go straight to the spam folder.0 -

What Carlitos said (thank you carlitos).
Was there any need for you to comment geordie_ben? You could have provided information but you didn't, however, it appears that you misunderstood what the OP was asking. But hey it happens to us all at one time or another.;)0 -

It's actually now handled by ORANGE but it was originally FREESERVE - remember them ?
Formed in 1998 - a project between Dixons Group plc and Leeds-based hosting provider Planet Online, became part of WANADOO (a subsidiary of France Telecom) in 2000.
Became part of Orange in mid 2006

I most certainly do. That was my very first email account, the one I used to sign up to this site many moons ago. When my desktop puter died, I continued to pay them monthly as I could still access it via work and the library when I could. Then I found out that even if I cancelled the payment, I would be able to access my email account for a specified time and could ring and extend the arrangment. THEY LIED!! Scumbags closed the account without telling me and I lost so much:mad: I didn't back up as often as I should at that time.
Back to on topic, I would suspect Freeserve of selling info as I have heard rumours that they have done so in the past.:(
The reason I asked is that I have several gmail/googlemail accounts and some are used only for cinema tickets and I have never received any spam or anythihng other than SFF tickets/feedback etc.
Just something for you to ponder;)0 -
Hi All! Just dropping in to say that I really enjoyed Kick A$$ last night! There was a great atmosphere at the cinema. I wasn't going to go as not really into superhero stuff - but was pleasently surprised as it's really funny!Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge #148 - £59.93

Last year film first offered tickets to Bafta award winner Noel Clarke's film Adulthood.
This year in June his new film 4.3.2.1 is coming out and may offer screenings again.
4 girls
3 days
2 cities
1 chance
Apparently there have been a few test screenings to gage viewers responses

TBH it is rare for ID to be asked for but you might want to be prepared.:)
Thanks for sending me stuff about Sky.
I agree it's rare to be asked f or ID, but last week Iwas asked for ID for Happy Ever Afters at Whiteleys. Thing was, my mother came in after me with a separate ticket but she wasn't.... Maybe I look young for my age.
