No, me neither. Thats the thing with text, you never know how the writer is feeling, and therefore how to take it. I think thats why the term LOL was invented (LOL):D

Plus your suggested method wouldnt stop duplicates.
............
Something that "regular code posters" could do (Newbies obviously wouldn't necessarily know about the "code of conduct") to assist in less duplicates being posted that I'd like to suggest is .... (something I've done many times before)
when posting a NEW CODE with all its details of times and locations etc ...
at the end of the post JUST INCLUDE ALL PREVIOUSLY POSTED CODES FOR THE SAME FILM.
Also just make sure as I posted in my SPACE IT post - so that SEARCHING actually works -
ALWAYS PUT A SPACE BEFORE AND AFTER ANY CODE
By including all previous codes there are several advantages.
Searching is more likely for find it at least once.
It provides a reminder to users that are still looking for tickets to TRY ALL THE "OLD" CODES AGAIN !
It list ALL the codes for a specific film in the same place - no searching back & forth looking for them.
It helps to stop users missing out on a code that they've missed/overlooked - eg. when several have been posted almost together

So the best format would be..??

Tho I then have another issue. What if a new code is found after this post... does the poster just copy the above post, add their new code to the top and put the other code in the previous codes part? And each following poster does the same?0 -

Yes that's the sort of thing I mean
I suppose the format does not necessarily have to be "fixed and rigid" - just that listing all the codes helps from all conceivable aspects and viewpoints as far as I can see.
The only thing I'd say about your

is that it should INCLUDE the NEW code that you've just added to the thread.
AND an invitation to continue the Code Summary forward
So either

Could members posting any further NEW codes for this film PLEASE COPY and PASTE this last "CODE LIST" section in their new post and ADD their NEW CODE to the end of it. Thank you!
Or something to that effect.
Otherwise the code that you've just posted might fail to get listed in the subsequent post.
This way the only thing the next poster has to be concerned about is adding their own code.
What do you think ?

can you give me the link to the article/etc. on the times website?
thanks

What do you think ?
I think it took a lot of work for me to creat that post, never mind doing it for real
It's a good idea, but i think as long as all the codes are in your post (with spaces either side of them) then hopefully people searching will find them.
I'll try and do the same in my next post and see if it catches on0 -
Kitty_Wren wrote: »Thanks for this, wish it was posted in the codes thread, wouldn't have missed it then
but we all know that if you did post it there, you would have been jumped on.
Well I deliberately posted it here rather than on the codes thread because it wasn't a new code. I am one of the many people who has an auto-notification for that thread and get annoyed at constant reposts, duplicate codes, returned ticket notifications and just general random chat on it, so I didn't want to be a hypocrite!
I know it's a thin line though - I have no problem with official releases of extra tickets being posted on the codes thread and also important stuff like date changes and even warnings about specific rules (having to take a copy of the paper / mag along etc).
I think the answer is asking MSE if someone could act as a board guide for the codes thread specifically, with the power to delete duplicate posts and chat quickly and ask users nicely not to chat when required.
Other than that we just have to expect a day like the other one every now and then when people are chatting on the codes thread about chat on the codes thread!0 -

Do companies always release an email stating extra tickets have been released tho?
I'd happily be the Codes Board Duplicate Deleter and Teller Off-erer0
