The little furry meisters do look very happy. Nice to see.
Was this first on TV, or something? How did you come across it?
I'd heard of Jaques Tati but had never seen any of his films although I knew of his character M. Hulot. It's only now that my circumstances have completely changed and I now have no responsibilities that I can indulge myself in free and cheap cinema. I decided that no genre would be excluded when it comes to previews meaning that I came across and enjoyed some foreign language films. Previously, I had been one of those whingers who moaned about sub-titles and whilst I still can't watch them at home, I love watching them in the cinema because it's the right environment without all the distractions watching at home can bring.
The second factor in this equation was finding out that I can see films at FACT for £3 at certain times. Being what many people would call an 'art-house' cinema, they show many obscure films and a lot of foreign language films as well as quite a few main stream movies and blockbusters. They screen such a wide range of old and new films and have mini-seasons such as the Jaques Tati season which consists of three films, each showing on three days between 21st and 30th August.
I'm a terror for picking up leaflets and booklets and each week they print out the list of films and times for the following week plus a bi-monthly pamphlet featuring most of the films that they will show. The three films were listed in the most recent booklet and when I get the weekly info I go through and work out a way of seeing most, if not all of the new screenings. Of course, I will have seen many of the new films as previews but I enjoy going to watch a mixture of new, old, re-released and interesting films followed by Q&As. I'm pretty lucky in that I get to see most films that they show.
Mind you, I've got a real job on my hands working out how to see as many films as possible next week. I quite often see two films in a day and occasionally three (which happens on Thursday) but it all depends on the times they screen them (my concession only applies to films before 3pm) and the length of the film. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing which films, if any will carry on into the following week.:( But one film that will probably only show for a week is the special edition of Avatar 3D.
One film that is a 'must see' is one called The Human Centipede. One of the staff was telling me about it and I can't resist it now. I'll leave to imdb to fill in the details :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

It's back to the big screen. Oh boy!
Source: ExclusiveLet us all bow our heads and give thanks for Back to the Future, without which we wouldn't know what a flux capacitor was or the significance of 1.21 gigawatts. Today we've got a new trailer for the film, cut in what we're assuming is a deliberately 1980s style, for the re-release (yes, you heard that right!) this October.
The original film will be released in cinemas on October 1 (yes, in the UK), with the entire trilogy on Blu ray following on October 25. We're told it'll have two hours of new extras to boot - including a retrospective documentary with all involved, a discussion about the film's physics and a storyboard alternate ending sequence. Plus it'll be all digital and shiny.
Found this on Empire Online.
That's excellent, I can't wait. If memory serves me right (and you know how lousy that is now), ITV1 and ITV2 showed the trilogy in successive weeks not that long ago. I didn't watch them although I caught parts of them. But those films know how to put a huge smile on a person's face. It is such a shame to see M.J. F. now. He has been a favourite of mine since he starred in Family Ties.
I've actually sat in the DeLorean or one of them that was used in the films.0 -

Ah, I see how you get to watch so many films. I really did think I needed to relocate.
I have heard of this one. I can't believe that peeps on the comments part of IMDB were trying to analyse a horror. Yes, comment on the balance/imbalance of horror elements vs comedy etc, but to try to actually logically work through it as a step-by-step, I mean get real.
Horror's all about blood and gore (and spectacle), and hopefully to jump a bit. Horror can't be put under the microscope. That would detract from the otherwise kooky genre. It's meant to be madcap and strange.Invented tradition: Couponology
Fancy title: Couponologist

:rotfl: Not in Liverpool but in Beaulieu Motor Museum. I don't think it was a permanent exhibit. I got talking to a guy who worked there and he offered to let me sit in any of the cars. Most girls ask to sit in a fancy white Rolls Royce that could be hired for weddings but me being me, asked to sit in the DeLorean. :cool:0 -

Totally agree with you on the horror perspective. Mind you I steer clear of people who try to over analyse all manner of genre. Science fiction in particular seems to attract people with far too much time on their hands. It's a film. It's fiction. That means anything can happen. Get over it!!
I have ambiguous feelings towards what I call the 'boo factor' i.e. the parts that make you jump because I suffer actual pain when I jump in those circumstances! Having said that, if the suspense builds up and up and up and ends without any boo factor at all, I do feel a little disappointed. Picky cow, aren't I?
The cinema chain situated in FACT is Picturehouse and whilst the same concessions seem to apply throughout, the prices appear to vary. I think Liverpool is one of the cheapest if not the cheapest. I know that if I went to the one in York I would be charged £4.50. I could buy a ticket to see a film on a Saturday afternoon for £4.90. So if you are going to relocate, come to Liverpool.I'll introduce you to all the nicest staff :T

Saw The Switch last night in Edinburgh. Really enjoyed the film despite a few friends not rating it, but 10 minutes into the film large amount of people came in talking loudly while trying to find seats. Grrr Then 2 more came in and decided to take the 2 seats which were free next to us while continuing their conversation. Hubs shushed loudly at them and they shut up. It was worse than being there with the children.0

Ben love, you are the King of unnecessary additional posts on codes thread. People are probably following your example. I couldn't begin to count the amount of times I've had an alert only to find it isn't another code but a little detail about the previous code. I've tried to show you how irritating it can be by doing it to you but you haven't taken the hint. In all honesty, you can't complain if it happens to you. Having said that, I didn't see the posts you refer to.please note, that the time on the ticket for this screening is 15.00 hrs

No Ben, it was important enough for Showff to send out an email entitled Important Note telling people that the start time was 3pm and NOT 1pm as stated on the original email. A difference of 2 hours is enough for people to change their mind over going or not. Would you like to sit around for 2 hours twiddling your thumbs or not go at all because you couldn't make it for 1pm?0
