  • I watched SALT yesterday with OH and both thoroughly enjoyed it! I have to admit it does seem thoroughly unfair that she manages to still look gorgeous with a beaten up face! :)

  • Shame they didn't offer tix for Despicable me!! Not quite the same genre but would have loved it!!:(

    Pity you couldn't exchange the 2D tix and pay the difference for the 3D tix. Then again, me leaning a little to the fly side, would pick out someone will a little less of the grey hairs and try to negotiate with them. That's just me though.

    On the other hand, I've got a feeling that codes are starting to come through for this one. Fingers crossed for you.

    Only committed students need apply - lol, but unsure where they are committed to - lol.

    Nah, not a Leo fan, but do like CM and TH. More like an appreciator of CN work. If anything, I'm theory stalking/learning, and who better to learn from than such a brilliant auteur. I would watch Inception every day if I could. Just amazing.

    I liked Salt. It has to be taken with an equal pinch of the equivalent title, but it was enjoyable. Far, far fetched, but just a good little action movie, if you manage to leave all aspects of reality outside the cinema door.

    I can't imagine TC in the role. AJ seemed to be a fine choice for the role. I think she's trying to shake off the fancy dress (well skimpy shorts) TR-style, and go for more meatier roles. I think she fares far better than JA ever could.

    I would always say use your gut feeling, and go by how you feel about watching a film, but I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised with the film, but not everybody shares that opinion. Salt has been getting mixed reviews.

    Well thank you both very much Tibbs and Willey, your opinions have helped me immensely and as I have some vouchers, I may well give it a try. I'm fine with suspending belief, in fact I think that is one of the best part of watching movies. I watch a wide variety of genre and whilst I am partial to a good documentary, I'm a great fan of fantasy in all forms. Let's face it real life can be touch enough, I'm there to be entertained.

    BTW I'm useless with initials, Tibbs. TC = Tom Cruise??

    As Despicable Me isn't due out until October, I think there will be a few more codes/screenings. Or should I say, I'm praying there will be.:A

    Some cinemas (I have a feeling Cineworld in particular do this) let you pay the difference between the cost of a 2D ticket and the 3D ticket. Make sure you take your own 3D glassess though.

    Talking of 3D films and I can't believe this but I'm going to see Pirahna 3D tomorrow :o:o:o:o I must be mad. Can't believe that it is getting a sequel:(

    Sorry, was being lazy.

    CM = Cillian Murphy
    TH = Tom Hardy
    CN = Christopher Nolan
    AJ = Angelina
    JA = Jennifer
    TC = Tom Cruise

    He was originally earmarked for the role, then ducked out, and script had to be re-written for a woman. Might be reason why some parts don't flow. Unsure.

    Put it this way, I adored the character Salt due to having her priorities in place (in one particular scene). Can't say too much, as wouldn't want to give anything away. I just warmed to the character upon the 'rucksack' scene. You'll see what I mean when you watch the film.

    A sequel (or more than likely two) seems to be hinted at.

  • Our thoughts exactly...as the credits rolled OH said "nicely left open..." totally agree with the rucksack scene...

    I had a very enjoyable day at the cinema.
    Firstly I watched Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky. What a very enjoyable film. Even though I watched Coco Before Chanel, I know very little about CC and even less about Stravinsky so this part of their lives was a complete surprise to me and it was interesting to see the sharper side of CC's character.

    Second film up was Mon Oncle, what a funny film and I am very much looking forward to seeing Jour de Fete and M. Hulot's Holiday. Unfortunately the aspect of the film wasn't quite right. When it started we couldn't really see the sub titles then someone went and had a word with a member of staff and the film was shifted upwards meaning we lost heads at times :( I do hope this doesn't happen to the other two films. There were some fabulous little dogs in Mon Oncle, I'd love it if they are in the other two also. :)

    I got most of the other initials but the TC confused me as I hadn't realised that the part was initially written for a male lead. Thanks, that's my fact learned for today:T

    Will make a note to look out for rucksack scene. Cheers:)

    I was trying to find a half-thanks button for the first part of your post, when I got to the fact that you're going to see Pirahna 3D. Oh my goodness me :eek::eek::eek:. Can I retract half of that thanks just for this - lol.

    Are you really going to sit through this??? Hope it's a free screening that I just haven't noticed - lol. Don't tell me you're paying :(.

    I'm all for watching every sort of film under the sun just to learn from the good and the bad, but even I wouldn't plunk me bum down on a seat and endure the pain - lol.

    You brave little soldier. Please report back on this one. I'll be happy (but surprised) if I'm wrong.

    Ah, thanks for this. I was intrigued by the film, as I very much liked Audrey Tautou in Coco Before Chanel.

    I'll watch out for this one. You know how much I like furry little meisters. They can be such characters, and so funny with it.
