I was trying to find a half-thanks button for the first part of your post, when I got to the fact that you're going to see Pirahna 3D. Oh my goodness me :eek::eek:. Can I retract half of that thanks just for this - lol.

Are you really going to sit through this??? Hope it's a free screening that I just haven't noticed - lol. Don't tell me you're paying :(.

I'm all for watching every sort of film under the sun just to learn from the good and the bad, but even I wouldn't plunk me bum down on a seat and endure the pain - lol.

You brave little soldier. Please report back on this one. I'll be happy (but surprised) if I'm wrong.

Believe me I thought long and hard before deciding on seeing it. :rotfl:

I will also confess that I saw the original  There's no hope for me is there?? :p:p I know I will hate it, I've seen the trailer and can't believe the state of the fish :rotfl: I'll have nightmares, I know I will. I hate fish especially fish with teeth.

I'm only paying £3 and yes, I know it is £3 too much especially after hearing a member of staff saying he saw it yesterday and it was dreadful! The things us saddos do to get out of the house for a few hours!!;)

I'm trying to find a positive side to this and think it will be the first time I will have seen a film that will likely be a Razzie winner. And little old Kelly will get the Worst Actress Razzie. Makes a change from going through the list of Oscar nominations ticking off all the films I've seen :rotfl: That's the best I can come up with!!

I've just looked at the cast list and can't believe that Richard Dreyfuss, Elizabeth Shue and Christopher Lloyd are also appearing in it! Oh well, at least I'm the only mad person around. :p

Gosh, I'm surprised Tibbs, I would have guessed that you would have seen Jaques Tati's films. There is one very funny scene in Mon Oncle involving a feisty pooch and toothy, vicious looking fish :rotfl:

All the dogs in the film seemed to be 'real' rather than acting if you get my meaning. They all had that happy, tongue lolling look to them rather than looking out for their trainer/owner for instructions.

I'll ignore the fact that you're paying. I had to put in MSE-sponsored ear plugs for that.

I heard about Brook, but didn't hear about Dreyfuss or Lloyd starring. This makes it more intriguing, and it might be a bit better than I thought.

I just saw the reporter getting eaten by the giant piranha, and was showing everyone that scene because just found it hysterical for some reason or other.

The fact that the word horror was being bandied around just made me laugh even more (which makes the fact that The Last Exorcism has been described as a horror as an exacting statement, more mockumentary than an actual horror). Now if it said the Piranha genre was hysterical comedy, then I might've taken it more seriously from the start. I am now since you mentioned the actors in it.

If you like Lloyd (as much as I do), then you'll be hot-footing it down to the cinema in October when Back to the Future is being re-released. I've seen it so many times, but I would like to see it on the big screen.

For a while I would only watch horror, black comedies, or psychological thrillers. I don't tend to watch that many comedies, although I'm starting to try to include and learn from all genres now.

I got back into comedies when I was grieving over a close family member's death. On the night before the funeral, I was 'distracted' from my grief by 'Along Came Polly' and I always think fondly of that film. For me, that night, it was pure escapism, and really the medicine I needed. Not every day you have to see your brother buried, thankfully.

  • Had a look at Mon Oncle on You Tube.

The little furry meisters do look very happy. Nice to see.

Was this first on TV, or something? How did you come across it?

Oh no, I really don't think that this films can be taken seriously not by any definition of the word! The only reason I can come up with for such fine actors being associated with this film, is that the economic climate has hit them hard or maybe a large tax demand. I really don't think it had anything to do with the script!

Oooh, I had no idea about Back to the Future being re-released. I can see that I must be a tad older than you as I did watch it on the big screen when it was first released!:p

Oh, I didn't think about them having to star in such a film. However, it gets not a bad rating on IMDB, if anyone can go by that. Can we really go by any rating online?

Yes, I just appear a lot older than everyone. I think my whingeing age is 90, but in actual fact, I'm not really that old. However, I feel old when people start saying things like over 20 or over 30 is old. Hang on a minute, since when???

I did a very similar thing when I lost dad in 2008. I had decided to stay in a nearby hotel after dad's funeral and when my best friend from County Durham decided to come with me to the funeral, I obviously booked her in too. I really couldn't cope with sitting crying all night so I took us off to see Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd, both of us being great fans of Mr Depp. To be perfectly honest, I was so tired that I fell asleep for a wee while (my wonderful friend left me to snore away!) but it did me the world of good to have a complete change away from all the responsibility in the real world. I'm a great believer that each of us deal with grief in our own way as individuals but not everyone seems to share my beliefs. I happened to mention this to someone recently and got a very strange look in return!

I can't say that I've ever dealt with grief properly. We've lost so much so young, and it has been incredibly hard to deal with (and not due to an unhealthy Scottish lifestyle, but instead due to a cruel rare, hereditary disorder). I'm talking about death at 29 years old. Anything else is a bonus.

So, for me I really related to your comment on films being better when they lean towards complete escapism. It's so true.

  • 06 August 2010New Back To The Future Trailer
It's back to the big screen. Oh boy!
Source: Exclusive12818.jpgpoint.gifpoint.gifLet us all bow our heads and give thanks for Back to the Future, without which we wouldn't know what a flux capacitor was or the significance of 1.21 gigawatts. Today we've got a new trailer for the film, cut in what we're assuming is a deliberately 1980s style, for the re-release (yes, you heard that right!) this October.

The original film will be released in cinemas on October 1 (yes, in the UK), with the entire trilogy on Blu ray following on October 25. We're told it'll have two hours of new extras to boot - including a retrospective documentary with all involved, a discussion about the film's physics and a storyboard alternate ending sequence. Plus it'll be all digital and shiny.

    Found this on Empire Online.
