I found Harry Brown very difficult to sit through and have to admit, I spent most of the film with my scarf poised ready to cover my eyes and even my boyfriend was covering my eyes at some really bad bits! He was also shocked by some of the graphic violence. It was a well done film though, and very well acted as it certainly looked realistic to me!
So just a warning to any people out there who may be tempted to see this next week, you might find it a little difficult too.
But to be honest, I am the biggest scaredy-cat and even found the latest Harry Potter film to be too much for me!0 -
Harry Brown was excellent. Who'd have thought that Gran Torino minus the car, minus the comedy, minus the race elements, minus the kids - would still have made such a great film? Michael Caine plays both Alfred and Bruce Wayne in one! Certainly not a film for everyone though.0

Sadly, it appears that I'm one of the people who shouldn't have gone. I've never seen such a bleak, depressing film. I like to be challenged by a film sometimes but this was just too much for me...
I did post this last Tuesday - 27th Oct
And it is a Certificate 18 - and it usually takes quite a lot necessitate this classification.Harry Brown
Violent, brutal, horrific, sad, depressing, bleak, unnerving.
Don't expect to leave with a smile on your face

I can't say that I enjoyed Harry Brown as i went in just knowing a rough outline of the plot but it highlights everything that is going on in society now and is very relevant. The place where it was set was extremely grim and depressing and some of the characters were hateful and it was a lot like Gran Torino this film is definitely not one for the faint hearted cinema goer.0

Thanks to a much more convenient place becoming available for the 11/11 showing, I have just returned two tickets to Law Abiding Citizen on the Kings Road this evening - FYI!0

We saw Harry Brown last night at Belle Vue in Manchester and thought it was excellent - disturbing, but very, very good.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

Harry Brown is a great film that highlights the problems and violence that does happen in some areas in the UK. Lets not fool ourselves into thinking that this was a made up story, it reflects life on a depressed and terrorised housing estate.
Well made, a real eye opener and edge of the seat stuff, it is very graphic but brought home to me how some people must have to put up with stuff like this going onThere's no place like home
Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

I just wish he'd gone the other way at the end.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

Nickyhutch.... :rotfl:
Strangely, it's not the violence that disturbed me about this film. I don't like gratuitous violence, but somehow, everything that happened - including that abused boy, Markey, getting his head shot off! - seemed appropriate to the setting.
What I can't forget are those smackheads raping a very young girl, comatose through drugs... yucky. Take it out of my head, please!0 -

Lol I DO wish he'd gone the other way.. it would have signified that whatever had happened, things still hadn't changed, which I think would have been more realistic. As it was, they way he went indicated (to me) that the problems had all gone from the estate, which I think is naive.
You're right about that scene...... horrid.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0
