  • My little dog is my stress relief ! Especially after the school run;)
  • Am so very grateful for all my good fortune - I really think my life took a turn for the better when I embraced the way of MSE......

    This is so true!!!
I have had totally the same experiences, as soon as I faced my issues and started to deal with them things got way better.

Is there a saying along the lines of 'money attracts money'????
Anyway congrats on all your good news

  • Thanks RT! Yes Paris at the end of next week - booked a pedicure today (luxury) and going to book for eyeleash extensions tomorrow (ultra luxe). Decided to manage without bikini wax (will do a Nair job) and manicure (might just get a file and polish though as overall, nails in good shape) on grounds of economy. Will do a top up on my tooth bleach (eBay product) before I go. I will be chic and polished in Paree! Still need to attend to the wardrobe and shoe situation. And planning a posh picnic for the Eurostar. V excited as it is my favourite European city by far.

Got awarded a contract for freelance work today......fantastic opportunity, v flexible and should ensure I do not have to return to any kind of proper job.....

Mr R has receievd his redundancy cheque - 3 months pay will go into his a/c tomorrow also....which will wipe his and our joint o/ds forever.....and then there's the pension lump sum cheque to come and then the pension will start too - wow!

We are truly blessed but am not letting my guard down with the ways of MSE - still working my ways towards Amazon voucher from surveys, for example, but it is a fabulous feeling to be getting ourselves sorted.......

  • Thanks IMD, that's so kind of you to post. I am so sorry things are tough for you, I've been reading your pages. I hope you don't think I'm crowing about our recent good fortune, it's just I started this diary to chart how I'm doing honestly, and things have taken a somewhat unexpected (and of course, v welcome) turn, so not to write it down would be wrong.

Besides, am not at all sure how it will pan out for me personally come July, when my redundancy pay runs out, as we have always contributed equally (well, in proportion to our earnings) to household bills and come July I will be living on my wits, my freelance work, and cleaning! A big discussion with Mr R is looming, maybe in Paris (no DSs), but maybe better after.....

  • ;)Enjoy Paris , Mrs ! You deserve it :)

Love from a very jealous 40somethingmum;)
  • OK, so decided against the eyelash extensions. Just feeling too MSE to justify! So bought a mascara for £4.99 instead. Am sticking to the pedicure plan though, as the lady I go to only charges £12 anyway, for the full works, and it lasts a good month. Might be able to force myself to get the Dior lipstick, though am currently feeling pretty tight about that, too, but we'll see.....Oh yes, and bought a Bourjois concealer, which in my book is as good as Touche Eclat but only £6.99

And found a fab Laura Ashley cardi for a fiver in a second hand clothes shop, perfect for my Paris look, and infinitely better than the £29 they are currently asking for a new T shirt.

And for Mr R, a big new wash bag for his marathon lotions and potions for another fiver, this time in Help the Aged, which is kind of ironic in the circs (not that am suggesting Mr R is in any way Aged, or in need of Help, but, you know....). It was new and unused, good as Mr R is v sniffy about second hand stuff (the mad fool).

Also a marathon runners handbook for Mr R, a bargain at £1.99, again new but in a second-hand bookshop

So a fab afternoon's shopping for minimal spend...
