Well done on saying no to xmas parties - you are right they can end up costing a fortune. Perhaps you could do a bring and share party at your house - as a way of having fun but cutting down cost!
The lunch club sounds great and mum2one I may try your recipes. I'm wondering whether that is what I have been doing wrong with some of my casseroles... not pre-cooking them a bit to boost flavour.....
BTW my pound stretcher does 4 cans for £1 - may be worth a look....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

hi btd
just to say I saw your post on gren06's problem - not only a DFW but already helping out others - sweet.
if you are serious about cutting down on electricity an OWL monitor is great, it cost £30 a whilr ago but think they are cheaper now. You clip a transmitter on by your fusebox or outside box, and the seperate display box on your woindow ledge/wherever shows you how much you are using (in pennies or kwh as you choose). it really helps as reminds you to keep turning lights out
i've gone from average 6p/hour to 2p/hour which doesn't sound a lot but is £1 a day. also makes you think about putting the big things on
will follow you for a bit - as you say this forum is great free and funI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

I totally agree with twinkle and you on the not going to christmas parties, I think I HAVE to go to one, but I wont be drinking as i have to drive which should keep the cost down, otherwise like you say they get soooo expensive, especially with all the outfits you HAVE to buy for them!!!;)
And staying in is definitely the new going out, everyones doing it :rotfl: I mean why would you go out on a saturday night when you can fight over strictly or x factor!!!
Anyways must go and update my diary

Thank you re meals, the beef is brilliant as slow cooking means you can get away with cheaper cuts.
I always do big batch and freeze them.
I precook the meat, even if its just to seal it, keeps the flavour of the meat, but still allows the other flavours to mix in, sounds daft but it works.
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
BTD - Your doing absolutely brilliant, you've hit the challenges head on, and making a lot of differences, the way I look at it is every baby step, soon becomes a stride in the debt free world.
def agree re bulking the freezer, batch of mince, that could do shepherds pie, lasagne, - brains frozen now! xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Mince can also stretch to spag bol, tacos, enchiladas, chilli con carne....my brain has now frozen too. I know there are more! Mince is one of my faves for a batch cooking day!2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0
