hi btd et al - I am lucky I only have friends who don't care about money and the latest gadgets. Don't know whether it has always been like that or what. We had neighbours once who were very Jones like but we moved up and away from them lol

It is OH's family that it is hardest with as they are really well off - but they know they are and that we are not and don't rub it in. So still ok - I just get the teensiest bit jealous sometimes

I know exactly what you mean hun, the person that paraded her Karen millen dress around the office knowing full well it was the one i wanted, isn't on my christmas card list and my sister is in my bad books, as I happened to mention that I wanted a kitten, but couldnt really afford it especially with the wedding coming up etc...and low and behold she's getting one next week.

People do annoy me.... but deep breaths and rise above it!!! I know I'm better off x

That kind of one-upmanship is really annoying. You are definitely better off not indulging in it. And as for the KM dress you want (if you were planning on buying it), get the 2 letter 3 digit code from the top left hand corner of the ticket (it's called the 'style code' on the website) and ring up one of the outlets to see if they have it in stock to save an instant third off! If they say they don't have it, ask them has it gone to the outlets yet or is it just that they don't have it, and if they say that it's just them that doesn't have it, ask them to look up who has it in your size and whatever colour you want on the computer and get the to give you the telephone number: you may have to pay an extra £5 P&P to get it if it's far away, but compared to saving a third on the dress, it's nothing! :p

OK BtD, beat yourself up a little bit about all that, but not too much - you've made a mistake, but don't lose sight of the long-term goal else you'll just go and do the same again out of frustration, then feel REALLY bad about it, then the vicious cycle will really have taken hold.

Write it all down in red pen in big letters in your spending diary and every time you so much as LOOK at something naughty for the rest of the month, the memory of this will make you look away again sharpish. Who knows, maybe spending this money will have stopped you from splurging on something much bigger and more expensive later on in the month?;)

Chalk it up to experience. x

That's more like it! It sounds like you have been doing really well overall, so far, so don't let one little wobble knock all the air out of your sails - it's just not worth it.

Best of luck with the rest of the debt busting! :) x
