  • Hi Rachelww1 nice to see you. How are you doing?x
  • Thought I would share this with you as it shows how you change on a aspire to be debt free journey. I just saw a fab second hand chest of drawers for sale for £30 they would be ideal for extra storage but then I thought it's good I don't have a lot of storage as I don't hoard stuff I regularly have a clear out and ebay a lot. So by not having a lot of storage I don't amass lots of stuff which as I said before is money on shelves or in drawers :A
  • Hi all! (if anyone there??).:p Good day. Worked in my sis pub to help her out and she gave me £30 and free dinners for my family. I didn't expect to get paid. I have 3 tins (plastic) of chocs now for Christmas as they were £4 each in mr t. Also some champagne that was on offer. Now some people will question buying champagne when I am in debt but I do so there and it's part of my Christmas budget and it was half price and I am worth it lol!:rotfl:.
Me and hubs are only doing stockings for each other this year and I am not buying boss's and work friends:):).
Free listing weekend on ebay so lots live on there selling at the mo!
Hope you are all well (if anyone there lol)
    btd xx
  • Glad you had a good day and the £30 is a bonus.

I think we all deserve a treat every now and then, if you are cutting back on presents why shouldn't you have a bit of champagne at Christmas and as it was half price it is in the spirit of mse.

I save my points and add a couple pounds to my Christmas saver each time I go into T so that in November /December I can buy the extra things ( if you save £100 through out the year you get £106 back - which is more than if you kept it in the bank) so I'm totally with you.

    Xx

  • When I first came on here I said I had £34k debt. It was £52. Now I have £40 and yes it is £40k still huge still worrying still feel sick but I am now used to managing it. I am dmp DH self dmp. Still I plod and plan and I am four years old at being savvy.
All my Christmas presents are bought and I spent what I could afford and it's all paid for.
I have family I have helped with finance but they still really haven't had their lbm yet and as you know that lbm the one that really sorts you out is high voltage!! Never mind you can take a horse to water.
I am dropping a half day in July to work 4 days, I have elderly parent that need help and my mental health situation means I need time to myself which is not a luxury it's essential to keep me well.
I am saving for a holiday in July also and do know what it feels good to save and have a goal knowing that my debt is getting smaller each day and will NEVER get bigger.
Anyway this is where I am now .
  • Lovely post BTD, you are doing so well to stay positive, remember to look after yourself in the meantime. Its great to get an update.

I subscribed a while ago, not sure if I ever posted to be honest as I have been AWOL sometime and not had much chance to read or post on my diary or anyone elses recenlty , but I am hoping to get back on the diary bandwagon as I find it helps so much with the battling away on these bumpy journeys !

You are doing so well to have made inroads into your debt. Isnt it a lovely feeling to know that Christmas is paid for outright and not on a credit card ? Well DOne

It's good to hear from you, BTD! Glad to see that you are making progress and that you have Christmas etc. budgeted for. Keeping healthy - mentally and physically- is definitely the priority as you can't debt-bust much when you are off sick.

Keep on keeping on and who knows, you may end up getting inspired to some amazing earning idea and being able to pay off your debt even more quickly.

The only way is up (or down, in terms of the debt)!
