I find the most frustrating thing to be the lack of awareness of Britain's geography and places... having to spell EVERYTHING, including places that are well known if you live in the UK, has made me prefer the heinous 'online chat' facility that many companies now provide!
  • It all boils down to the fact that if I'm discussing something rather important like my bank account, then I want the person at the other 'end' to be both easy to understand and be able to answer an easy question from me!
If it wasn't for the fear of almighty **** ups I'd change all my accounts/utilities etc. to companies with UK only call centres.

Then you should complain to the company whose services your trying to buy from.

Complaining wont make one iota of difference so i wont waste my time or energy the companies who use these foreign employees do so out of sheer greed and penny pinching so are not going to move back to U.K. just because i dont like it.I say vote with your feet its the only language these companies understand,if they have no one to sell to they wont be long racing back to the U.K.

Trouble is even with UK call centres they could still be any nationality at the other end.
  • Doesn't have to be 'foreign' to be gobbledegook. I couldn't watch the original Taggart.................!!

Another problem with finding this out is that some companies actually have both, using the foreign one as an overflow. I think microsoft do that; but they put people through to the USA which I don't really have a problem with as most people can understand them, and its an American company.

And I've driven past callcentres in Delhi. They have VERY posh big buildings with very well dressed youngish people coming out of them. Its a well regarded and comparitively well paid job there.

Have you phoned Bt lately? We've spent hours and hours on the phone to call centres in India being passed to different departments. They don't seem to take responsibilty for the problem and pass you onto someone else and they don't even understand some of the technical language being used. The Broadband help dept/technical should know what we are talking about. My DH ended up tweeting on twitter about it and someone from BT Uk tweeted back then phoned, but he had to pass it back to India as they don't deal with technical enquiries. They also don't seem to read the notes from previous calls to them which they must have! We spent well over 2 hours one day on the phone to BT, like ping pong between the UK and Indian call centres and I had to take over from my husband as he was about to go nuts at them.

It would not matter to me where the call centre was, as long as they understand me and understand what I am talking about. I've had terrible service from UK call centres as well from other companies but at least they could understand what I was saying. I have an east coast Scottish accent, in my opinion not difficult to understand.

And as for automated call centres where you try for hours to try to a human being.....arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
