Its not our fault that these cheapskate companies employ foreign workers who cannot understand English. Its their job to understand us not visa versa and if they dont they should not get employment in call centres till they can understand every word of the English language. Its nothing to do with racisism its common sense. We should boycott companies whos employees cannot understand our language.

i have to agree 100% with this, if you complain you can't understand them, instead of trying to speak more clearly they just acuse you of been racist.

has anyone noticed, it's the phone companys that have the worst call centres

I used to work in a UK based call centre and I once spoke to a woman in Ireland who asked why she had to ring India (???) to make an appointment to see someone locally and she wasnt going to use a company that used an Indian call centre! I got quite upset at this - yes I have quite a strong North East accent but I certainly dont sound Indian, last time I checked Nottingham wasnt in India and that I was probably just as Irish as she was as my family hail from County Donegal!
She was actually speechless at this!!! I think what used to annoy me was the people who rang up expecting to reach India and they were halfway through talking like the person who answered couldnt speak English before realising they were speaking to an English person

Actually some of it is partly our fault, we want a product at a cheap price, in order to give us the service cheap they have to make cuts and outsourcing call centers is one thing they do to do this. If people didn't demand paying bottom dollar for everything then there would be more UK call centers.

I work in a call center and sometimes gets complaints that a competitor offers the same for less, they forget the same competitor also has all their customer service in India and this is why they can afford to give it for less.

You know if sales calls upset you that much you could always just put the phone down on them instead of jumping up and down in fury.
  • it wasn't a sales call, it was a call back to try and fix a fault on our line.

I was actually reffering to the people complaining about sales calls. In your case you could always politely ask to speak to a supervisor if you can not deal with the person who is on the end of the line or you feel they are not treating you in a correct way. Or write a letter to complain. They must keep logs of who is called who.

I dont find any diff in price in my utilities etc between companies who outsource to India and British ones and i blame the outsourcing companies 100% for their greed, they pay a pittance to their Indian counterparts per hour which they would not get away with in Britain.

But in India its a well paid job that everyone wants to do. Just because they get paid less than in UK doesn't mean they are being underpaid over there.

How do you know its a well paid job that everyone wants to do.?i would think with the amount of stick they get over the phone from customers they would only sign up for this type of work as a last desperate measure.
