My other half put on nearly 4 stones after being put on Depakote. He started to lose it when his med was changed to Topiramate, however it didnt last long as it didnt control his moods well enough :(
I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.
    Bipolar for all
  • My struggle at the moment is loosing the weight. I am doing weight watchers & going to the gym 3 -4 times a week. I do an hour of fairly rigorous exercise, but nothing is happening. :(

Same, i've bee dieting and going swimming for an hour everyday and am not losing anything.

My doctor sis mention it could be due to the olanzapine, which presents a problem as right now it is the one thing keeping me, for the most part, stable.

She mentioned possibly halving my doseage but i'm very wary of it. Its almost like i'm being give the choice of staying fat but being stable, or losing weight and going mental again :(

  • My GP, quite some time ago said that it's better to be over weight than be depressed. I know where she was coming from, however still not helpful.

I'm going to continue with the gym & diet and see what happens. Giving it till the end of August, then depending on weight loss, I'll make an appointment to see my doctor.

You might be better seeking advice from a personal trainer than your GP ;)

Swimming is not the best exercise for fat loss due to the way it utilises the "fuel" in your body which often leaves you feeling hungry and craving carbohydrates afterwards.

Hi I m on seroquel and mitazipine and Iv put loads of weight on. Im starting slimmers world saturday. Iv lost weight with them before.
  • Good luck snookey. Let us know how you get on.

Chameleon....I don't need a personal trainer, neither could I afford one. As for swimming, any exercise is better than none. Swimming is a good all round exercise, it works the full body as well as getting the heart pumping.
