I have recently bought a Nokia E61 and using a £5 a month internet add on from '3' i get excellent connection and download speeds using it as a modem linked to my laptop via bluetooth. Using Nokia PC Suite set up is a real doddle.
Not sure how 3 would look upon it being used as a full time connection though.WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..

I am about to leave Orange after an 18 month contract. The reason I am leaving is that I now need a data package of at least 1GB per month and Orange can’t do that for anything less than silly money.
I have unlocked my M3100 supplied by Orange, updated the ROM to WM6, I have tested it on both T-Mobile and 3 and it works fine on both networks. In addition to using the phone for mail and web browsing, I want to connect it to my Laptop and use it as a USB modem. Again I have successfully tested this on both of the above networks.
To use 3 with my laptop, I believe I need Broadband Lite, not Internet Max as the latter does not allow use with a laptop. The problem is, when taking out a contract on their website, only Internet Max is shown as an optional add on.
Does anyone know if it is possible for me to, take out a 300 / 300 mix and match contract at £15/ month and then to add or activate Broadband Lite at an additional £10/ month. I then intend to sell the phone as I don’t need it. If I select Broadband Lite on their website, it tries to force me into buying a USB modem for £60 odd pounds.
Sorry to waffle on............
Tom

This is, of course, against Three's Terms of Service.
Oh dear
Just checked my data usage for this month .....
'Sorry there is no data usage for this mobile'
Back to terms and conditions ...
We will let you know by text message once you have reached the fair use limit and ask you to cease using the included data services for the remainder of the month. If you continue to use the services we may suspend your data usage until the next month. This will not impact your access to other X-Series services.WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..

No, it's not about the quantity of data, it's about using the phone as a modem.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

No, it's not about the quantity of data, it's about using the phone as a modem.
Yes but if they wanted to be pedantic about it i would be asking for definitions of data services and data usage.
I wont be leaving the country to escape the 3 modem police just yet.:rolleyes:WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..

Once Nokia suite is installed and phone connected to laptop ( use a cable to simplify matters) .
In Nokia suite go to 'Connect to Internet' it says something like 'configure a new connection' which sounds daunting but was simply choosing mobile provider from a drop down list. It then connected.WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..

I've been on 3 for 16 months now & my contract is up for renewal in a couple of months. I'll definately be sticking with 3. I've had no real problems with them, although do find the Indian call centres a little annoying. The only thing I did need was a new charger when my current one stopped working, but they replaced that free of charge and very quickly.
As for coverage-I lived in Lancaster for most of last year and the coverage there was quite good. A few times I struggled to get reception, but it wasn't a major issue. I now live on the north/east Norfolk/Suffolk border and never have any trouble with reception. If you're worried about how it will be where you live, you can enter your postcode on the website where it will tell you how good/poor the coverage is in your area.
The main reason I joined 3 was for the amazing international rates. I call the USA most days and used to use phone cards-now I pay just £15 a month and get unlimited (Fair usage policy applies and is 2500 minutes in a month) calls to many countries around the world, including the US. I recently went into a Vodaphone store just to check there wasn't anything better on offer and the salesman suprised me by saying he was amazed at the great deal, it was excellent value and to stay with them!!
In short, I'm really pleased with 3 and wouldn't change! Their packages are definately the cheapest and I love their international call add-on!
