The OH and I have just signed up with them. Me via affordablemobiles and her via them directly. My experience has been far easier than hers.
We both ordered on Sunday, an SG2 for me and an Iphone 4 for her. Mine turned up tuesday as agreed. She didn't get anything or hear from 3 apart from the email confirming acceptance of her order. She phoned them Tuesday night to find out they wanted a copy of her bank statement as we got married six months ago. Even though the OH has provided them with a marriage certificate for her dongle contract. They said they'd called and left a message on Tuesday daytime, which they hadn't.
We emailed them the details they requested yesterday and asked for confirmation of receipt of the statement and certificate. 24 hours nothing back. Glad to see that they are as on the ball as ever!
I'm nervous to even look at my phone because she's so livid with them!it's not the council's fault your band is wrong, blame the Valuation Office !!!!! :rolleyes:0 -
How about getting a payg sim and checking how well it works before signing up for a contract, its really not a lot of hassle but will put you in a position where you will know exactly what you are gonna get (in the various locations) where you are likely to be using it.
If you experience signal issues then you'll have saved yourself a lot of trouble - to me thats a win/win situation and has worked well for a few of my friends.

yes i agree with you, Sims are generally free and if you research further you will find that asda uses vodaphone and tesco uses 02 for example.
Where i live there is a small no signal pocket for Orange, but their coverage map shows good coveragenever put off buying a bargain today,it may be gone tomorrow0 -
i have had a 3 pay as go sim for 3 weeks now, i am wanting to get a contract on thier one plan but wanted to try it out first. i have bought a really rubbish pay as go zte and topped up £10 and i must say im amazed how good the signal is!!! i have been with 02 for years and have never been able to get a signal in my house now i have 3 bars!! and whats been even better is their customer service dept!!! i noticed 25p had been taken of my credit and i know this is not much but i phoned to see what i had used it on, because i want to be aware of the chargable extras if i go to contract. And to cut a long story short, the indian lady was ever so helpful, she could not say why the credit had been taken so refunded my 25p and an extra £1 for my inconvieniennce, now if you ask me thats amazing customer service!!
i agree sometimes the language barrier is a problem, but most of the time its down to our ignorance, if we take the time to explain ourselves slowly and patiently we can over come any barrier!0 -
Just a little confused about '3'; much is made about their 3G service but at least one of the locations I frequent regularly I switch my phone to GSM, rather than auto.
Could I do the same with '3'? Is there a 2G 'backup' service?David.0 -
Yes, I think they use Orange for backup.0

I was with 3 before and I am moving to them again- I am fed up with beeing ripped off by O2. Partner has a deal with them and has millions of minutes and texts- I am porting my number to his daughter's contract (she was naughty, therefore no more phone, she is back to PAYG) and take advantaged of the £13.5 per month , and 500 min, unlikmited 3 to 3 and I think 500 texts, or soemthign like that- more than enough for me.
My OH has no problems with the reception at all (unless he is at work and surrounded by machines)0 -
