  • I asked because i have been given 4 different answers by different customer services reps! I wanted to gauge people's invaluable experience on here, I'll try asking them again. Thanks.

It wasn't intended flippantly, but just a tip if you're given a deal you want to take up make a note of the name, time and extension # of the person offering it otherwise they have been known to get 'lost'.
  • Handset: Nokia 6288

    Most commonly used location: London

Ease and reliability and connection: No problems whatsoever!!!! get difficulty in connection literally once in a blue moon . however, i do sometimes lose connection for about 2 minutes or so once every week. The contract I am on is fantastic: £5 a month for 12 months, direct from 3, no redemption! get 300 x-net minutes, 150 texts, 25 mms, 25 video minutes and £5 free downloads (for games, music etc). the video calling works a treat as well! rang up to cancel to find a new deal, and they converted the above contract as a lifetime contract (so all the above, for £5, as long as the contract runs!). also managed to get the nokia n95 8gb version as an upgarde for £55!!! the easiest to get this sort of deal is to always threaten to leave, then they'll beg to keep you on!

    Any other problems: none

Overall service and rating (out of 10): 9 (there's always room for improvement), and because customer services is in india.
  • Can i ask a really dumb question?
I am no longer under contract with orange (I had an 18mth contract), do i still need to give them 30 days notice as i want to go from contract to pay as you go due to a change in financial contraints? Sorry if this is an obvious question - would appreciate any1's input.
    duttyrockgal,

have you officially cancelled the 18 month contract? when does/did the contract end? if you havent cancelled, then it will carry on as a contract after the 18 months, and money will still leave your account. you MUST cancel the contract by ringing the company up. also ask if they need written confirmation of the cancellation (my network 3 dont) and ask for the address you should send it to. you should also send it recorded delivery to prove you did send it. when you ring up to cancel it however, you should say you want to convert the number into a PAYG (pay as you go) one, which shouldnt be a problem. hope this helps!

    Just a word of warning.

I recently bought a Three SIM card to use as PAYG and to port my Vodafone number accross to. The SIM didn't work. They said Three SIMs work in 3 phones only!... The mind boggles, how do they expect to attract customers from other providers. I have wasted £'s on their 0870 customer service numebers and should get a refund within 10 days for the SIM cost. I felt I did enough research on these forums, but I guess I didn't pick anything up on this issue or noone knew about it.

    Regards.

Three SIMs are USIMs and always have been that's why they aren't swappable between just any phones. I think this is essentially because when they launched they launched a full 3G network whereas other providers had 2G networks and were upgrading to 3G.

The SIM you ported to does work just not in the phone in which you tried it. You will have to use it in a 3G capable phone not locked to another network.

Really this isn't a fault of Three however annoying it is for you. Its rather like trying to run a Vista only program on eg. Win 98.

They do work in 2G mobile phones. I have got a £99.99 dual band 900/1800 phone and 3 sim works fine!

Then lets post a list of non-Three phones they work with as that would help MrBen.

Works in a Nokia 6300 fine (confirmed 2 weeks ago), works in Nokia 3220 (very old phone) also IIRC, BUT I have another problem :(

I took out a 6 month contract with 3 in march for the crappy LG U300 on mix and match 500. Signal was poor so called up to give 30 days notice today. They told me I can't as I have taken out a 18 month contract apparently . Iit was a 6 month contract according to the website (which are still available) but the letter I got with the phone said something like "this contract is for 18 months" which looked like standard text they put on all contracts. I explained that it was 18 months with opt out at 6 months as it said on the website, an offer which is still on the website, but they wouldn't have any of it.

Told me to phone up the web sales team and ask them to look into it tomorrow!

Can the other people on here who have taken out 6 months contracts have a look at your paperwork and see what it says on there. Does it definately specify 6 months clearly or does it say that standard phrase about 18 months????

My Three contract was originally set up as an 18 month contract after noticing this I contacted Three and explained that it should be a 6 month contract.

The advisor on the phone gave me a case reference number and told me I should send a fax to the Glasgow call centre explaining the circumstances.

A few hours later received a call from Three advising that my contract was now 6 months and an apology for the error.
