Calley- I dont need new radiators just boiler. I can't see it being £800 to fit a gas fire, when my gas fire was fitted at my flat in Blackpool the bloke was only there about 2 hours! I dont know how much it cost cos I was renting, but don't believe anyone is on £400 an hour fitting fires.
Bathroom suite I'll get for £100 seen some in a local firms window plsu fitting, it'll take less than a day so expect to pay £100-200 labour. My OH who left was a tiler and I'm convinced I could have a go myself. I watched him doing enough times, otherwise I'll get an apprentice to do it cheap.
Lynzpower- went on that thread and got some great ideas by reading old posts! Someone had suggested getting cheap labour from the 2nd years at a local trades college, I'd never have thought of doing that! I know my area is (if its still PC tos ay this) working class/vocational based so I know of 3 colleges in the area that do building, plastering, tiling, plumbing courses etc. In exchange theyd want experience and photo's for their portfolio.
Decorating I'll do as much as I can myself with friends and carpets I'll wear my killer heels and blag a good deal! lol0 -

Think you need to re-read what I wrote. I never said it would cost £800 to fit a gas fire. I said with fitting and the type of fire I needed it would be in the region of £800. As I would need a flue fitted.
That is a big difference to saying it would cost £800 to fit.
A decent boiler will cost about £1000 but you can skimp and buy some cheapo rubbish from the DIY sheds for about £600 ish.
Of course all need to fitted by qualified corgi as you will need the certificates for when you come to sell. The same with any electrical work. But I thought you had friends that could do all this work for you really really cheap.

Ah right sorry, I need to get more sleep! lol Seen a couple of fires online at fires4u ranging from £189 to £400 depending on what my budget looks like after kitchen. I love those pebble ones in a ceramic bowl but theyre £449 + fitting and surround, too dear :-(0

WickedMonkey- £110k at least. Before you all tell me it cant be done, my mum's been doing it for years. Its current value is £100,000 if I resold it now according to Valuation resport (Id give Ruth Badger a run for her money at getting things very cheap or free!) I knocked him down £10k off asking price and house next door sold for £155,000 in Feb, and a bit further along the road one with 2 bed, (not 3 like mine) and not with the views mine has went for £118k according to Land Reg just after Xmas, plus many more Ive seen.0
