By the way (condition related), I'm absolutely KNACKERED and my glands are mahoosive and I'm a tad concerned that I'm gonna have an elephantitis neck and podgy underarm bits poking out the top of my dress.... but there's still loads to do. Ah well...

Love and miss you all :A and hoping lw and pcl feel happier, unity recovers from swine flu quickly, cwta recovers from doing too much in time for her flight, that sharon finds us again and raeh and others feel free(r) to post.:)

Anyone that wants to, feel free to PM me for wedding updates.:o

  • Hi there, I'm a newly-diagnosed Fribro Bird & it has cheered me up no end reading all of this whilst still wide awake! I promise to only talk about on-topic stuff, but already it's great to know that there are other people out there just like me.

Hiya EmilysMum, I hope you all find us approachable and we manage to be of support to you. We normally would say feel free to talk about anything but....well, you know what I mean!;) Welcome :)
What's your current situation (kids - presumably at least one girl ;))...do you work? What do you struggle with most?

    morning all

web page still slow to load.. but ds said its like that in the morning

well today is big adventure day, i need to go see the doctor, looks like its a taxi there and back for me, running low on milk and bread, poor ds will be busy when he gets back from school, its the power chair run to town (at the end of my road) to get to tescos, only he needs to lift it over the door step first... i'm sure if it wasn't so stupid it would be a funny comedy sketch..

Morning BZ sent you a pm, you just chill out and look forward to the big day.
Emilysmum welcome to the madhouse :D

I'm trying out a new title..is it too unwieldy, should I call it something else?

I am open to suggestions, I don't want to exclude anyone who has a condition that affects their lives. Whilst some living advice will be condition specific I'm sure a lot of it will be of use to anyone who has pain or mobility issues or indeed any other form of condition.

    Hi Soo.

I'm pleased that the thread is open to other chronic conditions. I too suffer from pain and mobility issues, so it's good to see something where ideas ect are shared to try to make living with chronic illness easier.

One of the problems I have is a drop foot. I spend a fortune on shoes as the sole wears away [I cannot lift my foot] so I suppose in the context of discussion the problems, a converstaion on shoes is helpful.

Yesterday I fell twice, and my foot decided to become uncooperative another three times leaving me unable to move for a while

I'm thinking about purchasing a rollator, as I wonder if that will help more than the sticks I currently use. Not sure though whether it would help with the balance problems I'm also having.

Any thoughts from those who already use one?

ouch not nice for you, i hope your feeling better today, not used one myself, but a stroller was suggested to me via occupational health (dial)
can you be assessed (it's free) and see what they can suggest and you might get it free on the nhs

    Thanks Paparika.

I was assessed and I have a wheelchair, but the stubborn side of me doesn't use it as often as I should :o

Can I ask OT about the rollator. I was going to buy one, as I have DLA and that would cover the cost. I didn't want to buy it if it wouldn't help though IYSWIM.

My instincts tell me that if it's something that would aid with your walking/independance and is, in itself, an aid then it should be covered by the OTs.
