Kass I always said its easy to just blame everything on fibro pains and i ignored a strained shoulder thinking it was a little bit of extra fibro pain

Yes, I agree. It can someties be something else like a strained muscle. The problem is that once you have a diagnosis of FM, GPs and A nad E doctors can sometimes attribute everything to FM. When I broke my foot the A and E doc sent me home to do exercises!

At the moment I am having bother with my elbows which my GPs have now injected four times with steroid. I am due for another in a couple of weeks and then if that doesn't work they will send me to the hospital to see a specialist of some sort.

Well, here we are, like a phoenix rising from the ashes with no less than five new members .

Welcome Invasion, zzzLazyDaisy, Morag 1202, EmilysMum and Pipkin71 plus anyone I've missed.

I'm typing this in stages since I still feel like death warmed up _pale_

Pipkin - can I ask is the drop-foot part of MS? A friend of mine has this and had a support made at the hospital that greatly helps him. I bought and used a Rollator for a very short time after escaping the wheelchair, and must remember to put it on eBay . It's an American one that doesn't have those bicycle type brakes on the handles - as the problems with my hands and wrists made these impossible. If you aren't actively pushing it along and leaning on it, the brakes kick in automatically. I use crutches now - I can't remember the name of the specially shaped handles, you sometimes see them on walking sticks, where they fit your palm. it's something like "Fischer" or "Fishwick" - I think .

Kassandra - Was it the sacroiliac joint? Both Suep and I have problems with this (bloomin' painful) and I have no disc between the base of my spine and pelvis. I've sent Suep the link to this new thread, just in case she has missed it.

GP has been out this a.m. and reckons Tamiflu might not be wise because of my other probs (hope this might help others with fibro/me etc). He says to stop taking it and just use paracetamol and has left a script for Amoxycillin if my chest gets any worse (precaution against pneumonia which I'm prone to) - only I can't get it dispensed since we are all down with the same thing and DS had his knee op on Friday :(.

Thanks to everyone who asked after DS - doc was able to check him this morning as well - and confirmed his knee looks ok despite all the bleeding he had over the weekend. I feel worse for him than for me, he has his knee plus the swine flu and he'll be 21 on Thursday :bdaycake:wonderful eh?

You know they say you shouldn't put everything down to Fibro.........well I do and was told the other day at physio that she thinks my hip problems are either down to my hypermobility or a problem with a joint that connects the spine to the hips........scoli/something or other? Any idea's cos I want to do a bit of research before my next appointment and can't remember the name! Surprisingly

Hi Kass was it the sacroilliac joint? Im not sure about the spelling , but its something like that. I have it on my right side, it's very similar to Sciatica pain but for me it goes right down my leg and into my foot, the sacriolliac joint is the tiny one at the bottom of the spine that joins the spine to the hips, it's so small it doesnt show up in any scans or xrays and .........theres nothing they can do about it !

  • Yeah, I think that is what she said. I've been researching it and realised XOH has the same problem! They say it's more prone to women though, what with child birth and hormonal changes. It makes sense too as when I was pregnant with the twins (third pregnancy) my hips were displaced and I was in a tremendous amount of pain. It also relates to the hypermobility too so there's another problem/name I can add to my list!! XOH was right, if I was a horse I'd have been shot by now

  • Flamin Nora Unity! You're all down with it?! Maybe I should make a trip to you after THE WEDDING OF THE CENTURY (getting seriously excited *g*)
Seriously hope that you all improve fast.

Pipkin I'm a lupite, but when I get very tired, my feet don't pick up - like a type of drop foot, but it's very transient. Awful to suffer from it the whole time.

Got new ergonomic keyboard and it's larger than one on diddy laptop apart from the ergonomic layout. Must've taken me 10 mins to type this - many, many typos *g*

But of course! I have ME too, but not bedbound (99.9% of the time) with it, thankfully. I hope you get enough assistance. Welcome Isolus :)
