Two mornings ago, I looked down at my hands to find my right index finger nail was snapped off - I have no idea how I did it, I didn't feel a thing. So as it was down to 2mm of white (still about 6mm longer than when I bit them - that's how chewed my stumps were) I had no choice but to cut all my nails down to level with my fingertips. I was gutted.

Bloke came in, realised what I was doing and decided that he would use his car repairing skills to

'do it like them French birds - you know what I mean - mani summat - pink and white on the tips - what? what are you looking at me like that for? Mum has her mate Jodi come round and put that plastic s**te on hers and I've seen her do it when I've been round fixing her Sky Plus. WHAT? Look, jus' give us your hands. You've used a crystal file, haven't you? Where's the grouting pen thing you put the white on with? You got sticky guides to do this, or do I have to line it myself?. I can see you've got Nail Envy, I'll put that on first, then I'll bung on the seshay pearly filler stuff, then I'll do the lines and - what? You look like you've just swallowed a fly - have you got a baby pink, I thought I saw a Loreal titanium thing in the shopping trolley yesterday...'.

Once I picked my jaw up off the laminate, I got a perfect French manicure!

Bloke has also gone up in my estimation - but don't tell anyone!

One of my thumbnails just snapped off the other day at work when I picked up a file, sometimes it just happens, the other thumb is still long but I noticed today there's a tiny 'catch' at the side so I shall probably have to cut it short soon.

Is it just me who finds it REALLY difficult to cut fingernails on the left hand - or the right hand if you're left handed?

it is called a "gel overlay on natural nail" took about an hour to do. Shes french polished them and apprently it will be VERY DIFFICULT for me to scratch the polish off or even bite my nails. they come in all different colours but i chose french manicure. Last for 3 weeks then needs in fills.

they look a bit stubbly but its just how the pic was taken, if you look at my thumb nail its actually quiet long

Nice nails Mommyme, looking really good! Well Done! I've been keeping mine just long enough to be the ends of my fingers, any longer and I think I'd have to bite them - it's only because they look nice that I can put up with them I don't know how people manage with these huge nails!

BTW JoJo, I showed DH the post about your bloke doing a French manicure, and he just didn't understand it AT ALL! Fortunately I'm not a nail varnish kind of person, so I don't feel deprived, but he was just completely uncomprehending! :rotfl:

i give my OH a manicure every so often hehe - he gets me topush his cuticle down and shape his nails but draws a line at nail polish lol

Haven't checked in for ages, have had an awful few weeks, due to some personal trauma, BUT have actually got white bits on my nails!! How this has happened I have no idea, I would normally have bitten my nails so badly they would be practically bleeding!!

I have used some Hally Hansen nail hardner and that's all, haven't even bothered with horrible nail tasting stuff. I have also been putting hand cream on regularily.

So that's something that has really cheered me up.
